For those who don’t know how Roman started it he filmed maureen(Sid’s mother)and Billy’s dad (I forgot his name) cheating on each of their partners and showed it to billy resulting in him wanting to kills Sid’s mother Sidney and Sid’s dad and so he called Stu to help him a sun be his accomplice to killing Maureen Prescott.

The thing is he didn’t create the ghostface persona. That was Billy’s idea. And most other ghostfaces were inspired by him. Roman just planned Maureens murder, he even admitted he had nothing to do with the murders of the first movie. At the end it was him AND Billy that started it all.

Alr so.. there needs to be some explaining.. First of all, Roman Bridger PLANNED It all to get Revenge on Sid. Now, It Is unknown if Roman Bridger gave Billy and Stu the costumes. And by "Billy started all of this" they didnt mean by planning, in fact Billy was the First ghostface killer, so they Just meant that Billy started all the ghostface future "generation/killers". Then once Roman found out they didnt succeed, he took over this. In conclusion they meant by first ghostface, not by the One Who planned it.

Sidney and Gale have this conversation in the 5th movie. If you watched Scream (2022), you would understand that they were talking about the person who started the 'ghostface' trend there. Billy and Stu are the first people to become ghostface. Roman is the 5th killer who becomes ghostface. Billy has no history with Roman. Because Billy already dies in the first movie. (1996-2000) Also, Sidney Prescott, who lived through the events, says that Billy Loomis is there. Billy and Stu are the originals. The remaining killers are just their copies (I mean fans) @@Umut816

Billy still technically started it, Roman had no play in the ghostface costume or identity that was all created by Billy for all he knew Billy could be killing without any costume like he did with Maureen since that’s the only actual murder he was aware Billy commited. without Billy killing in the ghostface costume there would be no gale weathers book, no stab and ultimately a lot less killers. So yeah Billy started it
