Kacey, the light switch outside the bathroom is also very common in the UK. It comes from the days when light switches weren't water resistant so they put them outside the bathroom to reduce electric shock risk. The UK also often had switches in the bathrrom operated by a pullcord as you can't get an electric shock from the string!

Hi Kacey, seems like you stayed in the city of Mainz which is close to Frankfurt. It was nice to see you and Josh in the city where I went to university 😃. In the traffic lights you saw a „Mainzelmännchen“ which are typical for the „ZDF“ which is one of the German public major TV channels and which is also based in Mainz. Never noticed it during my time in Mainz though (or it is new and I indirectly confessed that I am older than you 😆). Hope you had a great time. Bucharest looks amazing. Thanks for sharing ☺️.

I love…love…love Frankfurt. You need to go back again. When you do, take the red subway/street car line to Frankensteiner Platz.There’s a big hostel there that has rooms for couples. If you stay there, they have one of ghose outdoor chess sets in the patio. Behind that hostel is the Englischet Quarter with lots and lots of great pubs. Also, just down the street from the hostel, ( along the river) is the Museum of Holography. It’s a must see if you like holograms. Manny F.

The little man on the don’t walk sign is a Mainzelmaennchen which were cartoon characters on the ZDF television network beginning in 1963. If you watch German tv I believe that network still uses them to like announce commercials. I’ve actually got a large collection of the figurines from when I was in Germany for several years.
