This version is the most true to the book. Such a great version, despite the crazy beehives and polyester costumes. I watch this every year

So glad to find this...I have a copy of this on VHS tape but don't have a player for it any more...This is the best version in my opinion because it's closest to my beloved book..!!!

I love this version. All the characters are great, but I really like the portrayal of Sir Walter. Such a fop and he doesn't seem to realize it.

When Captain Wentworth leaves the Musgrave's house, to go shooting, Anne makes a strange comment. She says that she has seen him again, after 8 yrs (she said earlier, it was 7 yrs). She comments that it is almost a third of her life! 3x8=24. Anne was 27 yrs old!

I love all versions of this classic. But IMHO Anthony Head is by far the best Sir Walter, hands down.

It's such a shame that the rest of this was never posted. It's true to the book, and the costumes are accurate (but not Ann's hairstyle, lol). I remember watching this version years ago (because i remember that hair!). I'm sure I can find it elsewhere.

Is there more to the film, this cuts off abruptly and to be honest I’m rather disappointed… also disappointed that the person who posted it would rather advertise themselves as a writer instead of writing down who all the actors are.

young women of this time married as early as 13 or 14 years of age. Infant mortality rate was very high as well. I am not exactly positive, but many were considered "Old" and infirm by the age of 45 if they made it that far...

Great film....Opening scene has the Baronet saying he married Anne's mother on July 15th 1784, he then goes on to say their 1st child ( Elizabeth) was born on 1stJune 1784!!! Born out of wedlock?? Hahahahaha.......thats a slip up in the production. A bad slip up...the hairstyles of 70's productions of Austen are always over the top and not truly representative of the Regency...especially Anne's. But Henrietta's is getting close.....I find it really annoying..However, bar that its a great film. Thanks for the upload!

Looks more like (elegant) 60's hair styles to me. 70's hair was a little more wild with the latter part of the 70's giving way to 'big' hair styles which carried on into the early 80's. Thereafter anything and everything went unto this day. Post 70's men went short. I enjoyed the Movie regardless of the little faux pas. If you want more historical authenticity check the Catherine Cookson works. Authentic & damn depressing; as those times were. I've studied History on many levels and across time. There are no eras I would care to do more than visit for a week or two just to see the pre-industrial Forests. In my own time I've seen 1/2 the forest area of an agricultural region cut & bull dozed over and my Father & Grand Father were part of much worse. As a Woman you should realize that Men almost owned their Wives through the 19th Century. Slaves had more rights than Women. And though lessened in the 20th Century going into the 1980's a Woman needed her Husband's permission to get a bank loan. Going back to the good old days has only ever been a Hollywood thing. And Hollywood has only ever been interested in selling entertainment.
