How did a small allegedly non-existent "scene" of a dozen musicians from the mid-sixties British town of Canterbury go on to change the musical path of their time? The emergence of the Canterbury Scene in the late 60s represents a remarkable period in the history of British progressive rock music; a breeding ground for world-class musicians of considerable harmonic and compositional sophistication. Over the years, with outside musicians joining Canterbury bands, new bands all over the world have emerged adopting the "Canterbury sound".
