The 'Request Reinforcements' action seems quite sensible and suggests the presence of a Mauryan Behemoth in the Indian subcontinent.

Saba is well done! I really like the the updates to the rosters in RotR as well, except Rome. I think your submod did a better job with the roster, I always thought it cool starting with the Etruscan/Greek style troops and teching up to the stronger manipular units late game.
@TWSummary
@TWSummary 8 ай бұрын
Thank you. Yes that is what was historically the case. So that is pretty accurate, however now that we have the DEI template for the manipular legion, we will adopt the same for our own Manipular Reforms which will be interesting!

@@TWSummary Awesome, that’s great news. I have to say it is a strange decision to me to launch a campaign revision lacking two key features of the main mod. Reforms and AOR units are a huge part of the enjoyment of the grand campaign and vanilla RotR did it better than any other content CA made for the game. Having less features than the vanilla game is a weird choice, least in my mind. Aside from that though, pitstarfield down and tried the Insubres, great experience so far. I do really like the changes made to the Gauls, I may even try to finish a Senones campaign, which I never managed in vanilla. Great work as always!

That idea with the unit cards pose is brilliant 😮
@TWSummary
@TWSummary 8 ай бұрын
Yes, that is my vision. And the DEI team approved of it. So I give unique poses for units so that at a glance you can tell a hoplite from a pikeman, a shock cav from a melee cav, fast infantry versus slow. Etc. I'm slowly phasing out as many cards as I can, but even though it is an easy process, it is a long one. Extra hands are always welcome.

Dude that is so awesome! I truly hope several other select factions get the same government policy treatment Maurya did! I truly hope that these changes to all of the Rise of the Republic factions be implemented for them in the Grand Campaign as well, both AI and resurrected factions, even for the ones that would be liberated. Though I do believe Taras should have access to the White Shield Hoplite unit that's an AoR in the grand campaign, as for the Etruscans, I'm very surprised you didn't take some ques from Gesuntight's Etruscan overhaul, especially since it looks like they have no recruitable archer units. As for the Sardinians, as a big fan of missile units, I REALLY like what you've done with them, and desperately hope that Nuragic Culture is added to the game, including Nuragic Immigrants!

I'm happy that a work was done in the ROTR dlc. But still there are more things to do there. Like varying the technologies for each faction. People if you are currently playing a grand campaing I suggest you to continue playing with the version you are playing because it didn't work for me when trying to load my current campaign. Try the 1.33 version only in new campaigns.

@asirry3144 would be nice, but DEI is all about historical accuracy, at least as much as they can. So camel cataphracts won't ever be a thing with the official mod. Regardless, they do have good horse archers, which is by far one of the best unit types a roster can have.

Nabateans were known for heavy use of camels in war, while Saba did not use them a lot, outside of very minor roles like light mounted attendants.

Hey Summary! Are you sure that Calabria is the actual name for the tip of modern-day Puglia? I'm a southern Italian and today the region indicated as "Calabria" in the mod map is called Puglia (its ancient name was, in fact, Apulia). Today Calabria is located where the name "Bruttium" is written on the mod map. Was it intended or, maybe, was a mistake? I can give you further support as a local, if you need. Anyway, thank you guys, this team made Rome II the stunning experience it is today! Much love from Naples and southern Italy in general♥️

It may also be reasonable to spam 3-4 stacks of Mauryan reinforcements when the player captures the last settlement of Maurya. Same as it happens with Roman reinforcements in the CiG campaign. So that there is a feeling of fighting a mighty empire, not just a minor faction at the edge of the map.

That might have to be a script, but don't know how that would work.

The Roman reinforcement script is pathetic, it triggers WAY too late for it to save them from the player. 20 turn intervals are FAR too long, it needs to be 8!

No other factions for now have these actions, if the review is really positive on the Mauryan changes, then this could be applied to other factions. Currently as it stands, the changes to the Mauryan government actions, is more of making the Mauryans a lab rat in the experiment.

im in love with rome 2, and dei just made it better that words cant explain, but i always have 1 issue on my mind and i always look for submods for it. more units... i want to feel each fraction and feel how unique they are and have more range of styles of plays( ofcourse with in the range of the fraction histroy, not a bazzar unit that has nothing to do with the fraction) and ofcourse i had the thought that most defintly the modders thought of stuff like this so i would like to know if its possible? and if not how come? exepct this feature of the units, dei....is a top tier mod and im thankfull for each of the modders for this unique new rome 3 game.
@TWSummary
@TWSummary 8 ай бұрын
Ultimately, there is sweet spot for roster sizes. As too large roster sizes would mean adding many redundant units, as there will always be an ideal cookie cutter composition for each faction. Some units are just simply going to outperform other units in cost-effectiveness, stats, etc. So keep the rosters too small would make the game boring and lack depth, conversely keeping it too large will only add clutter and make the game too inefficient. Meanwhile striving for the sweet spot, is what the DEI teams focuses on. There are many submods that adds more units to the game should you choose to have that option.

@@Konrad_IV It has some changes. I never finished my first ED campaign. I still had to go against Parthia. I started the campaign I am on know a few weeks ago. The starting set up was different. The initial amies and navy had less units. All the tech was low to start with. The AI armies moves in battle like DEI. They moved troops to protect their rear and flanks. If they could flank you they would go for it. I have won every battle except one. They had 5 heavy infantry that pined my center. The rest of their army were missile troops that showered my cavalry skirmishers to pieces. It was a good fight.

What about Selucids and other diadochi, state of Selucids is abysmal primarily because of unit roster. They can't even hold they own territory let alone hold the satraps...
@TWSummary
@TWSummary 8 ай бұрын
They are very powerful already. Sadly, the AI is bad at managing big empires. That's a CA thing, not a DEI thing. However, in the hands of a human player, the Seleucids are one of the most powerful faction.
@radojebojic3053
@radojebojic3053 8 ай бұрын
@@TWSummary I agree that they are powerful on camping map. But on the tactical map(battle's) i think they are abysmal. They need more units especially native units. Selucid empire historically employed and used many native units. Something like roman auxiliary barracks could be useful. Especially in early camping. In my experience many eastern satraps declare independence, Lydia is attacked Ptolemy declares war and pontus almost always defeats Armenia. So you wage war on four fronts and you cannot even hold that much armies. Without keeping all the satraps. After the first reform you get thurepoi who are cheap and it is literally spamming them because of population and money problems. Because everything around you is wrong culture which makes it very hard. And in the late game you have fight Roman's which mele unit's are crazy compared to you. So in sense you don't have unit's to defeat west in battles 1/1 nor east. This period is period of Helenic domination of war in east, it's funny to see cheap archer's destroy phalanx. Phalanx in history was very good in holding against skirmishers. And cavalry choice without native unit's is bad... Selucid used many native cavalry... Long story short i like the feeling of camping map but not the battle's. Too much holes in unit roster who historically were filled by native troops and made selucid one of the biggest and melting pot of culture. You could even have an argument that one of the biggest reason for their collapse to Rome is their loss of far east satraps and their much needed unit's and money. Sorry for huge answer, i am student of history and so frustrating to see phalanx lose and can't do nothing about missile unit's etc... P.S. I am not a native speaker of English so please be gentle about my spelling.

It is absolutely brilliant to come up with these Mauryan government actions, and I would love to see other factions having similar stuffs in the future as well. ❤ The balancing though, I think that more work needs to be put in to keep the campaign away from an instant snowball. 5000 for a full stack made of professional army is just waaaaaaaaay too OP imo. The cost needs to be at least tripled to be commensurate with the cost required to build such an army through regular means. Another way of nerfing it can be adding more limits for this action. Eg. the army coming from the India subcontinent will decrease both your ruling family’s influence and other parties’ loyalty significantly, because of a shift in the local balance of power. Adding morale penalties can also work, since the first place the reinforcements march into is the Gedrosian desert.

Economics in DEI aren't the easiest thing to manage, but gets very cracked if done properly (200000 a turn eg).
