The Aurelian Walls (Mura aureliane) are a line of city walls built between 271 AD and 275 AD in Rome, Italy, during the reign of the Roman Emperors Aurelian and Probus. They superseded the earlier Servian Wall built during the 4th century BC.

BEAUTIFUL day, to reflect on the past, our present and the future. Formidable architecture, taking into account the time in which it was built. But that is was useless, several times, for forgetting to close the doors of the Aurelian wall. Human errors, is Achilles heel. From Babel to the Berlin Wall, trough the Chinese Wall, man building walls, the fate of human history. Very beautiful the song of the birds and to see the people jogging, around the Aurelian walls. Nice tour. Thank you very much.

Muchas gracias RI por este recorrido magnífico y muy bien filmado. Me sorprende qué poca gente disfruta de este lugar espléndido para hacer deporte o simplemente un paseo. Seguramente este video contribuirá a su difusión. Roma tiene tantos tesoros que algunos pasan desapercibidos. Bravo!!

Gracias Enrique siempre muy amable. 😉 De hecho, algunas partes restauradas de las murallas aurelianas son apreciadas por varios romanos para sentarse a su sombra o hacer deporte, pero el número siempre es muy limitado. Entre otras cosas, estos vestigios antiguos son terapéuticos. Personalmente, como veo algo de la antigua Roma, ya estoy de buen humor. 😊

Questa tua passeggiata mi è piaciuta molto. A piedi hai sensazioni ben diverse di quando ci passi in macchina. Ti rendi conto di più di quanto sono maestose. Non sapevo dove era la porta ardeatina che hai fatto vedere e altre notizie che hai dato. Grazie. Continuerai il giro delle mura?

Odd question, but what are the types of trees here we see along the walking path in the beginning? I feel like I recognize them whenever I watch an Italian video but I'm not sure what they're called?

Cette muraille est véritablement unique ! La partie récemment restaurée que l'on voit en dernière partie de votre vidéo est impressionnante. Je pense que cette restauration offre un peu l'impression que devaient avoir les voyageurs de l'époque... Cette fin, ces invasions venues des contrées, même les plus éloignées, ont été une succession de coups portés à Rome. Durant des siècles, les armées romaines ont été les envahisseurs. Elles rapportaient d'énormes butins et richesses. Ce sont ces richesses justement qui permettaient aux imperatores de payer ses légionnaires. Mais si, à l'inverse, les guerres deviennent défensives il n'y plus de butins dans lesquels puiser pour assurer la sécurité de Rome et de son immense empire. Par contre, même dans ce cas, les armées doivent être entretenues. C'est un cercle vicieux, on en sort pas !... L'histoire de Rome est fantastique ! Depuis sa fondation par Romulus jusqu'au tout jeune Romulus Augustus, dernier empereur d'occident déposé par ce même Odoactre dont vous parlez. Odoactre qui était lui-même un genre de barbare mercenaire ayant servi dans les légions romaines... tout cela est bien triste mais passionnant ! Encore une fois un grand merci !

C'est vrai Pierre, l'histoire de Rome est aussi grande et lumineuse que triste et sombre dans son couchant. J'ai toujours imaginé comment le monde aurait changé si l'Empire romain avait résisté jusqu'à nos jours, peut-être que nous aurions tous été citoyens d'une Europe vraiment unie et compacte. Digressions d'un nostalgique des anciennes gloires impériales. 😅 Merci comme toujours. 🙂👋

@@RomanoImperoTv Ce qui me console c'est qu'une grande partie de l'Europe est issue de cette imprégnation culturelle romaine. Nous restons tous un peu romains. Mais ce qui me console encore plus, c'est que cette Gaule conquise par César a bénéficié de la Pax Romana... la Gaule est le meilleur exemple de cette"assimilation" pacifique entre Rome et mon pays, la France. Quand on sait la débâcle qu'a entraîné l'effondrement de Rome...je suis sûre que l'Europe a dû connaître alors un âge obscur...

Porta Ardeatina was part of the Aurelian walls. The closest Servian gate is Porta Naevia but it is several meters away and unfortunately there is no rest. Greetings. 😉👋
