Rome is so, so hot! I just left a few hours ago after 7 days, and still, I will take a hot hellish day in Rome over a nice day in a different city any day. Rome is the no. 1 city of all time! I loved everything about it and cried last night in my hotel room thinking of leaving. I had the time of my life and immediately began planning a return. ❤ I have never felt for Rome what I did for any place I have ever been. It was like a mystery was unlocked. I can’t explain it. You are so lucky to be from there, that alone is a blessing of a life. I didn’t even begin to see or do half of what I wanted. I felt so sad watching it slip by from the train window. Grazie Roma, sei belissima ❤❤

@@MilesNauticus I'm from New Orleans, the most southern place you can possibly get in America. It regularly gets to 115 degrees and humid. I started going to Rome back in 2015 and I found the climate rather comfortable. I've since gone back dozens of times and I even bought a small house in the suburbs of Rome. Truly the greatest city on earth and its not even close

What a wonderful post! When for “coffee” you start thinking about a pause with porcelain instead of something to go in a paper cup, then you are on the right path. Cheers from Rome.

The Colosseum was just as crowded and just as popular on opening day 1900 years ago. The scene never changes! I wonder what the original crowd in their robes would think of this crowd with their sunglasses, men with with their untucked shirts and ladies in shorts.

Summer is the worst time to visit Rome. Not only because of the crowd but also the almost unbearable temperature. And this year especially with preparations for the church jubilee next year. I'm glad we went last February.

A lot of ignoramus Americans feel that way. No knowledge of history, no appreciation for her past, or beauty, where every building and ruin , have a fascinating history , A smart individual, will always read and familiarize himself about what he is going to see. . And what he was got to visit. Where to go, and familiarize himself with the past . I feel sad about that so many Americans are that ignorant and shallow, They are truly missing a lot.
@lauralombardi5598
@lauralombardi5598 22 күн бұрын
The ignorance of many Americans often degenerates into ridicule, as in this case. For them, there are only three possible options: 1 stay at home; 2 choose Disneyland and its fake and hideous Bavarian castles; and 3: start studying seriously again. I think the latter option would be the least likely.

So much history, so many building that speak of its past, so many remains that speak volume, many built by Jewish prisoners, that were taken as prisoners, l by the Roman Empire to Rome, as slaves . After they squashed the Jewish rebellion of Judea and Samaria ( today the West Bank)x. Rome is always hot in the summer. I worked on an archeological excavation in Tuscany in the 1970's and in July it frequently reached 100f. Only people who don't know Italy have different expectations. The heat is why Italians eat in the evening and have a long lunch break. Why tourists in Italy would not be wearing a sun hat is beyond me.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I've only visited Rome once and this reminds me it's still in my heart. As someone from the USA, I had no perspective of walking amidst REAL history. My first "mind blown" experience was after checking into my hotel and I walked out just to see what the area looked like. Right outside my hotel I wander down this side street and on my right is the back side of an obviously old structure. The more I look, the more I get this sense that this looks REALLY old, but it's just right there, close enough to touch! As I keep walking I notice there are little openings looking thorough to a huge "courtyard" looking area, and I can see columns! Wth?? As I get to the end of the street and turn the corner, the Foro Di Nerva is revealed in all its glory. Only 1,900 years old, no big deal. Again, mind blown!! Grazie mille, Roma!

Just came back from Roma, Yes it is breath taking But the heat and humidity drains you. The tour guides are on mission to complete your tour hell or high water, they walk at a force march pace and if you are in the back of the line you are running at times. In this vedio you see the lines and they are everywhere.. You are walking on Roman steps and walkways, very uneven and if you are wearing tennis shoes !! I suggest shoes you would wear on hiking on uneven mountain trails. We took the metro here and a cab back to our hotel, If you are are somewhat out of shape suggest the cab. Again this trip was great, I would go back in April or May not in the summer.

I actually felt safer in Rome than my home city in the US, and I from a big city in CA. If you are from a big, urban US city, no problem. If you are a small town person, just be aware of who is around you and what you are doing, and be confident. If you ever feel scared, there are a lot of hotels, & you can easily go inside the lobby and ask for help, get a taxi, or even talk to a policeman. I just left a few hours ago and want to go back immediately!! You will be fine- don’t worry!! ❤

Book the hop on hop off bus online best way to see Rome. Least exhausting and you can get off, sight see and get back on.

New subway line under construction. The underground of Rome is FULL of archaeological finds, so the works proceed more slowly than in cities built on nothing, or on sand. Once the works are completed, the stop in Piazza Venezia will be one of the most beautiful in the world, a true underground archaeological museum on multiple levels.

You should ask these people what they think of these significant crowds. It would be nice to hear the honest opinion. Not everyone is American there.

The stone masons did a nice job building the Colosseum. In Nuremburg, Germany there is the Palace Of Congress, a similar building built for the Nazi rallies.

Rome wasn't built in a day, I say. Marcus Aurelius had something to say, and said it well. Maybe he is the one who said it first? Whatever, he was very wise and sagacious!

" It is believed that as many as 400,000, between gladiators, slaves, convicts, prisoners, and myriad other entertainers, perished in the Colosseum over the 350 or so years during which it was used for human bloodsports and spectacles."

Looks like Saharan dust is in the air. I thought the Caribbean and South Florida were the only ones affected. That raises local temperatures there as well. I would not visit that tourist trap. Not worth it. Too crowded. If I wanted crowds and high heat, I can visit my own city. 😂
