We recorded this video for a fan and Patreon patron named Peyton. We were going to play some music at his birthday party, but COVID had other plans, so we recorded this tune for him in lieu of an in-person performance. The original is by Steve Forbert, and I had never heard it before, so I'm grateful to be introduced to it!

I was just a girl, not even a teenager, when this came out. It has always been my favorite song. The melody is sweet, it's upbeat and positive, and it reminds me of life at a simpler time. Nostalgia and the years would dictate that I would weep upon hearing this...but I didn't. I smiled all the way through! I'm so glad you young folks are carrying these songs into another age. Y'all did it proper justice too!

I was in high school when this came out and we were reading Romeo & Juliet in English class. Any time I hear this song it takes me back to those days.

It's a nice rendition, but the chords to anyone who has played guitar really aren't that hard to play. I think crazy chords and wizardy from what I've read, is a bit over the top. A very nice rendition though.

why do guys have to fill my night with tears? I took my first girlfriend to graduation in 1982 in my brother's old truck. This song was on the radio when we drove to prom. I haven't seen her since, and don't know what happened to her.

Steve Forbert I think is my favourite act of all time and I had the pleasure of going to see him live in Cardiff a few years ago. I flew from Glasgow for the concert and it was brilliant. You guys do a great job of one of his best! Well done. Please learn more of Steve's numbers - he is such a good artist and you can do such good covers!! 👍😀

Wow - I love Steve Forbert's music, and rank him up there with John Prine as one of America's best songwriters. You two captured the spirit of this number, and sound great together. It's funny because most of the covers they do are even older than this song. But the truth is Reina and Toni have introduced me to probably 50 old songs I wouldn't have otherwise known, so I think its pretty cool I got to introduce them to one.

Saw Steve in London late 80's. Been a fan ever since. It's weird coz whenever I bring his name up, nobody's ever heard of him. I can't explain why. Going down to Laurel is an all time favorite of mine.

I was a newlywed (2 years married) when that came out. I had to look it up as I was listening to country music exclusively at that time & never heard it before. I like this version better than the original. It's more like Keith Urban's version. And once again, Toni's talent shows! You were both great on a song you had never heard. But, Toni looked like she had been playing it for years!

Fantastic job ladies. Steve Forbert was a singer songwriter that was a must see when I was in my late teens/ early twenties and is still churning out music today. Little Stevie Orbit is a must listen to album.

I was 15 when this came out. I've heard the original by Steve Forbert (love the vocals, wish he'd let more instrumental melody though), Keith Urban (burns hot leaves a listener satisfied and exhausted), and now by you. You've captured the song. Thank you.

I love you guys. I've been watching for 3or 4 years. I played professionally in Reno area for about twenty years, and I still would, but there was something missing. It's what you guys have. You care about and have love for each other. As an old fart let me tell all up and coming musicians, there is nothing like genuine compadre with your fellow musicians when you're on stage. It's the most important thing, and if you find it don't ever let it go. Thanks guys, love ya!
