This was some footage that I filmed inside the Bo'ness and Kinneil railway's Romney workshop at my local heritage railway, back in the 1990's when the steam guys were restoring Caledonian Railway, 439 Class No.419.
On this video :-
1) Welding the Westinghouse air pump on locomotive CR419 (55189) which suffered serious frost damage many decades ago.
2) Machining the repaired welded Westinghouse air pump on the Webster and Bennett vertical borer.
3) Various No.419 parts being machined on the Webster and Bennett vertical borer.
4) Rust and cleaning of No.419 parts.
5) No.419 Cylinder liner steam ports being cut out.
55189 Westinghouse Air Pump Appeal
The air pump on CR419 suffered serious frost damage and was weld repaired many decades ago. The pumps condition is deteriorating and now needs to be replaced. We have located a complete Westinghouse pump of the correct type in good condition together with a substantial amount of spare parts for sale. We need your help to cover the purchase of these and related shipping costs to ensure the continued use of CR419 for the foreseeable future.
