We are not being asked to send American troops into war, only to help the Ukrainians defend themselves. If we fail to help Ukraine, Putin will invade a NATO nation. Ukraine is not the end, it is a step-and letting Putin have his way with Europe would jeopardize our security.

Pretty much the last. Romney is the last Republican with any intellectual worth - and he's stepping down out of the frustration we can palpably hear here. The party is dead.

@@rgemailMitt isn't any better than the others. He voted for and backed every cruel, callous and stupid thing the Republicans did for years, and years, and years, and years. He has constantly claimed to be a man of great faith - even while being a member of an utterly makey-uppey nonsensical religion cooked up by a crooked Irishman on the lam (pointed out by this non-crooked Irishman) - yet reliably backed every cruel and harmful piece of legislation put forward by the Republicans to punch down at the poor and needy, and that sought to represent minorities and their rights. He also sat by and ho-hummed while Nero started burning Rome, doing not a damn thing for year after year as Trump made an absolute mockery of the highest office in your land, humiliating your country on the International stage every day then and since, and - bar recent months, once he'd decided to jump in the Retirement lifeboat, what did Mitt The Good have to say about Trump and the Maga/Republican cult's toxic, fascistic behaviour? "..." Even Liz Cheney - a Far Right figure with some particularly deplorable and cruel views of her own - showed more guts and, frankly, patriotism in condemning Trump, and condemning the surrendered, hijacked, complicit post-Republican party, ready to take a hundred arrows in the back from her own party rather than spend a day longer claiming the thicko orange sun-god was lo, verily, the greatest and bigly smartest and most marvellous and sexiest beast since Jeeeeebus, but Mitt? "..." And now, here he goes, clambering towards his own personal lifeboat, with a legacy of cruel moves and motions and laws and acts which also had his backing and support and approval - I'm sure that if there's a National Act To Kick Orphans In The Balls And Pop Their Balloons, you'd find one M. Romney as one of the signatories - while some people claim he has 'moral authority'. Unbelievable.

It would have been over in a month if Ukraine would've just agreed to remain a neutral country and not join NATO. Not to mention that we should have never helped to get rid of the ELECTED Yanukovich in the first place. If that hadn't happened in 2014, none of this would have happened either.

I think you missed the memo sir. The republican party has changed. We young conservatives have different views and we are looking for different things. We don’t tow the party line and we are skeptical and we are thinking outside of the box. We certainly don’t trust the media and Tucker just happens to echo that sentiment. He isn’t exactly the youngest on the block but he was young enough to wake up. Trump certainly isn’t the vision of the new republican but he definitely got the fire started. Unlike you all we never had to grow up in front of a tv and do what they told us, and take it all as gospel. We have easier access to information and we grew up that way. So we are capable of developing a more nuanced approach. Because of the whole woke agenda it created that fire in us because the woke agenda is just a worse more extreme version. Unlike the woke left and the old right, we can think our selves and we can call b.s. Old politicians don’t speak to us. We are looking for someone genuine and informative and someone who speaks harsh truths, pragmatic and aware of the times. It’s time for a new age, be ready for the change because it’s coming. The Pences and Romneys of the world are fading from view and relevance and will soon be forgotten memory.

Big media is owned by the conservatives that's why but the liberals wouldn't show it either if they owned the media. Only media the liberals have are smaller outlets they run themselves. Even CNN and MSNBC are ran by some pretty staunch conservatives even though they clearly hide the conservatism well but then again staunch conservatism (far right) is equal to fringe liberalism (far left). Independents, Libertarians and other non major parties along with moderates in the two party system are doomed when it comes to the media and the only media that likes libertarians are conservatives that pretend to be libertarian or at least pretend to like them. Only reason why conservatives pander to libertarians is because libertarians support the second amendment but libertarians respect it more then conservatives because not all gun control has been championed by liberals, conservatives have a role in it today like for example if it wasn't for conservative gun control disabled Americans would have gun rights and ATF wouldn't be able to raid people especially veterans for using cannabis medicinally. In fact if it wasn't for conservatives, I'm not sure the ATF would even be a thing. One last thing I'll note is that if conservatives actually liked libertarians they'd have to admit that they are projecting a heavily misused term to try to own the leftists because Libertarianism is what real liberalism is. If you ever hear an actual libertarian say "I'd like to live in an America where the constitution is taken seriously by all, no harsh nor stupid laws and I'd love to smoke weed while attending my gay disabled friends wedding" you should take them seriously because they support a lot of things both sides of the aisle does just not the stupid, unlawful and extremist garbage both sides of the aisle push. America would actually have freedom and have incalculable amounts of money and leverage over the world but no the conservatives and leftists would rather collude to make sure America isn't on top and as Mr. Romney says, Russia, China, Iran and North Korea would have the most control and he is right but their are a few others that would help them but they aren't currently being called a threat by the media nor the government if anything they are ignoring the human rights abuses in those countries but their governments could have a chance at controlling the world let alone America. All the clowns that support that evil agenda need to be voted out and we need more libertarians and independents in Congress and the white house. Kennedy 2024

I haven’t always agreed with Senator Romney, I haven’t generally liked the way in which the U.S. goes about handling international affairs, but this right here is why Senator Romney has my respect, and why America still has the potential for good in spite of its faults. If we cannot make this stand, cannot follow through here and now, when it isn’t going to be easy, if our only willingness to engage with war is for our own self benefit, or in this case self detriment that some have been convinced is our benefit, then we will have fully lost the trust and good faith of our allies and friends. I still remember many of the lessons that my Dad taught me when I was a kid, about what it means to be a good person and do the right thing. It sometimes means not being treated fairly, sometimes it means not making as much money, and sometimes it means falling on your sword and admitting when you are wrong. Trump has never tolerated any of those sacrifices and if anything gloats about his aversion to them, my Dad & I both recognized him for what he was, a bully. Policy aside, I cannot respect a bully enough to support in any sense, let alone with running the nation, and the Republicans that choose to do so no matter the cost are delusional, deceptive or both. America doesn’t have to be the bully, America doesn’t have to support the bullies, and America can even go back to an ideal of what some of us thought it stood for and fight back against the bullies. I really hope that is the direction we go, I want to be proud of my country, for now I’ll settle for being able to tolerate it because Trump taking charge again after setting himself against the Democratic principles this nation was founded on would not allow me to tolerate what this country would become, let alone be proud. I know I’m not alone in this, I also know that unfortunately not nearly enough people out there see it this way, but I still believe they can. America can be the nation we want it to, but only if we work for it.

Here in the States Trump is adored by extremist theocratic fascists, which are not only the minority, but the numbers are dwindling, contrary to what the neo-con fascist talking heads scream from their lonely towers in the sky. Less people will vote for him than in 2020, and more will vote against him this year. I've crossed paths with more former Trump supporters in the past year or two, than in the prior 6 years combined. Many folks are becoming disillusioned with him and with their initial vote they gave him. He's become so unhinged that even the most ignorant of his Cult followers are sitting up and noticing. His diehards will never change, but I promise that there are some average every day party towing conservatives who perked up a bit when Romney gave this speech. Maybe not in house, but out on the streets and in the voting booth, some Republicans are sick of Trump, and the presidential race will be too close of a race to have some Republicans not on board w/der fuhrer Trump.

Israel is ultimately to blame. Inflicting apartheid, theft of land and wholesale denial of human rights ever since it was founded, against the wishes of those already living there.Sadly Israel always gets away with it with only a minor slap on the wrist from the west.@@michaelmcclellan6944

It's crazy how right/conservative Romney looked in 2008. Today he's a breath of fresh air and a reminder of where the republican party used to be. I hope we can go back to those days. Even if Trump doesn't win in November it'll probably take decades to repair the damage Trump left in his wake.

It's really shocking to see many of the Republicans I was opposed to growing up, actually show up and speak some real sense. It's scary what's happened to their party these days. The U.S.' leadership, for better or worse, has maintained the status quo we've mostly enjoyed in the western world since 1945. They can't mess around with this stuff.
