The "gift of dyslexia" book is very informative. Would have liked to have explored the reorientation with some students when I was a teacher. I was at one of the many schools where they strictly enforce a "no physical contact" rule as "child protection", so I quietly went back to hiding behind my desk where it was safest.

I agree. Really great movie !! Must see for those who want to discover the brighter side of dyslexia. Wish there were more videos, movies for dyslexics for self discovery because self-help books & text materials make no sense to us anyway.

We all have issues in life and the one of ours just happens to be reading..Learn to harness your talents of 3D thought and vision it is amazingThat being said, I am severely lexic but never had reading issues and I cant imagine what those who do have reading issues go through.....However, you must remember it is only a stumbling block. Whether you are dyslexic or not we all have issues to deal with self-awareness is a wonderful thing

I had auditory reversals which led to speech reversals. I had auditory therapy, speech therapy, and phonics to remediate my Dyslexia. I still have speech irregularities and auditory processing issues including auditory input speech lags, poor short term verbal memory.

Practical tips to improve the lives of those with dyslexic. As a life skills coach ive had real success with an unorthodox method involving the minds-eye .the result is a more effective learning outcomes for sport as well as education .This is a method that guarantee students to pay attention where and when they want so how do i do it .Get a pair of sunglasses and cover the outside with black tape next cut out a 1/4 ' inch square on the side of the glass and on left for left eye dominant people>

that only represents a very small percentage of peolpe with this problem i have it and because i don't a have a high enough severity of the case i get no exemption or exception in any of my exams but in art i get straight a's so it can affect people with numbers letters reading writing and spelling. not all but are inclusive in every case but some have a higher severity than others!

Dyslexia is not a curse, its a gift! Ive learned to embrace it but still my lecturers make me feel retarded for learning a different way to the way they teach us we should learn!

That's so strange , I couldn't relate more. Can't explain anything hardly in words without using a tonne of gestures, but am very adept at explaining things visually. Probably why I'm going to become an industrial designer, I can draw very detailed inventions from the minds eye, but yet have the memory of a spoon and the attention span of a duck.

I hate being dyslexic. My brothers can read a book in a day and sit the Exam the next and get the best grades and then walk into a high flying well paid job! It takes me about a year to study a acdemic book and pass the exam just :(

hi its the shiz i know but in exams you should now that in some countries you are entitled to a reader and a scribe (as i do ) remeber its not a benifit its a equaliser ! and i know its hard when you just want to cry and give up to remeber that there are good things about being dsylexic we have some of the most imaginative minds imagine how boring it would be in anyone alses it would be like listerning to symphonies and then only be able to hear a single note hang in there !

Does this really therapy work? It's sad that dyslexia is poor understood syndrome often associated with craziness, laziness, stupidity. I'm a dyslexic but managed to graduate from a top school, started several small businesses & made myself a multi-millionaire. I finally joined a corporation to leverage my creativity but unfortunately there too, I'm considered by my peers as lazy, crazy, 'not willing to take ownership', etc.

Today, I discovered that I am dyslexic. My partner said he had known for years but never wanted to make me feel bad so he never said anything, even as he witnessed me struggle with reading, saw my horrible handwriting and spelling mistakes, and even witnessed me discovering how to incorporate listening to my writing as a part of editing.
