The scene that always stands out for me is when there was so much confusion fixing the pothole he just went out and did it himself. That's basically the core of real Libertarians or at least should be: just get it done.

Ron Swanson is the perfect example of how to do a caricature right. He's an exaggerated and comedic representation of a libertarian, but he's not an insulting, mean-spirited misrepresentation of one. He's intended to make people laugh, not preach to them. He's depicted as silly, and a bit extreme, but not as a bad person.

Ron Swanson is such a well written character. Usually TV shows have this tendency of taking their strong or eccentric characters and giving them some kind of twist or character turn around during the later seasons just to keep things fresh. So its refreshing to see how they kept his character consistent while also giving him more depth and revealing more interesting aspects of his character with every season.

Ron Swanson is the type of guy who quickly and effortlessly attains top dog status of the social scene at a run-down bowling alley. Ron Swanson is so respected and feared there that he commands the room all night long; heads are always turning his way as if he's a movie star. Yes it's just a two-star bowling alley, but Ron Swanson dominates the sh*t out of that bowling alley.

He was the best character on the show, and what precious little we got to see of his interview with the 9-year-old is unironically one of the truest scenes I've ever seen on TV. "I'm the government, and I'm going to eat 40% of your lunch." I felt that, so hard

The swivel desk reminds me of every stupid company that decides their “IT department” needs to double as a customer service department and so they put the people with the least amount of social skills right at the forefront of every inane, irritating question a user could possibly come up with. Meanwhile everyone else enjoys day long meetings behind closed doors. No one needs to have that level of accessibility besides the receptionist or ACTUAL customer service reps.

05:30 reminds me of the time one of my students (when I was working in after school care) caught me smoking on my day off. I turned a corner, there he was and just asked me "Mr. Name, you smoke?!" I took a breath from my cig, exhaled (not in his direction) and just said "Nope" before going my way.

Ron Swanson works because Nick Offerman acted him so well. He’s a fully developed “character” and it takes a good actor to bring him to life. Usually in sitcoms they’ll just get a comedian to play these characters because they can also write the jokes. Basically you just end up with people who say funny quips all the time, but have no actual personality. That’s why Ron is such a stand out, he feels like an eccentric Uncle or something, like a real person.
