I agree with Zlatan, Ronaldo is more of a product of training and hardwork, but Messi is a natural. It's like football is innately embedded in his genes from birth. In the field, he looks so natural and smooth too.

What I tell people is this. Maradona/Pele used to be regarded as the best player in the world. But it wasn't until Messi emerged in 08/09 that we started questioning that thought. Ronaldo came before Messi as far back as 2004. So if Messi made us bring back the conversation of who the greatest is, then that says it all. Ronaldo is an obvious great player who scored a lot of goals and was so dangerous but so was Eusebio and Stefano. But when you watch a game it is the way a player does it that makes a player standout. This is the reason why TH14 will be the greatest PL player not because he has more goals(which is important) but because of the ELEGANCE when he scored goals. Its the way its done not the numbers.

He has more goals and assists per matches played. Ronaldo and messi have almost the same amount of goals yet Ronaldo has played 100 more matches than messi.

It's really hard to compare them imo. If Messi played for Portugal he wouldn't have won this WC, this is not even debatable. Messi is a playmaker, Ronaldo is a finisher; 2 very different playstyles. I've been watching football for a very long time and if you ask me, they share the GOAT status. If you ask me who's the best I'd say Messi and Ronaldo. I've never seen a man as fluid and elegant with his movement and passes as Messi and I've also never seen a man as dangerous as Ronaldo.
