Big up 2 Portugal Considering his age Ronaldo was unreal His fight, his experience, his passion etc. Yh he missed the pen But it happens It's football Slovenia played well A well setup/organised team All the big boys have underwhelmed But it's not just that This time around The other teams have been strong Setup to be hard to beat Well organised & full of fight That has made 4 an interesting Euros

As a Portuguese i can say is a bit of both narcissitic and loving is country, from 2012 to 2020 he carried our national team, was always competing at the highest levels and is hard to accept sometimes, he shouldve been benched and play the last 30min. In the end he put himself first In the first penalty showing the captain he is.

The stat about Southgate winning more international knockout games in 8 years than all of the other England managers combined since 1968 is MISLEADING. As Terry touched on, the tournament size was smaller, which meant if you got to the knockout phase, you were way more likely to play a high ranked team a lot earlier. The knockout round for most of the tournaments in history was much smaller with a lot less games too. Until WC 86 and Euro 96, most knockout rounds only had 4 teams in them - consisting of a semi final and final only. FIFA only extended the WC to 32 total teams in 1998, and UEFA only introduced a 16 team knockout stage for the Euros in 2016. Not to mention that Southgate had an easy run to the WC final in 2018 but still bottled the semi, and an easy Euro route in 2021 - but lost the final to an Italy side who couldn't even qualify for WC 2022 the year after.

@@Arty2senis I agree with you, a stat is a stat. But you need you provide context for it. Southgate has won more knockout games than all of the others combined simply because the managers before were participating in tournaments where the knockout rounds were only 1 or 2 games, not 4 or 5 like we have today. Plus, the tournament sizes were smaller, which meant you were more likely to face a top nation much earlier in the knockout round.

It’s so sickening because most Portuguese people recognize it’s time. But his fanboys manage to be louder than an entire nation. We should be heard FIRST and before them. At the very least, if he does still have football in him, he shouldn’t play an entire damn game. He’s being mismanaged because no one has the courage to tell him. It’s like watching a Make-a-wish kid

Spot on. Ronaldo was obviously trying too hard. He’s 39, he’s not as fast, deadly, or jumps as high, and you can totally see him trying to overcompensate that in the header attempts missed by a couple centimeters due to poor timing.
