I don't mind keeping mine in the back of the wagon between the back of the drawers and the back of the 2nd row seats. I get what mud I can off them first, then bag them in a couple of heavy duty rubbish bags, before putting them back there. But just to add- the MaxTrax are absolute life savers. Especially if you don't have a winch, and in many situations could probably be better.

you can tie the other end of the strips to the truck. that way once you are out of the struggle you can drag them at the same time. (might only work on the rear ones) i would be careful on mud though, you might actually break them if they are deep enough.

i remember helping someone and they spun there wheels on my maxtrax, had all the gear on the 4x4 but no idea, i told them not to go so fast but didnt want to listen and i couldnt jump under the car while hes flicking mud everywhere, he finally got out and after looking at them he bent most of them. Ive hardly ever had to use them and try help someone out and they nearly stuffed them.

Here is a tip regarding security. Try engraving them with your name and a phone number. Do it clearly, where the potential low life thief can see it written, before they start cutting the locks. It might be enough to turn a thief off, as they can't rub it out, to resell them. It will also put them off if they plan to personally use them. It also means that you might have it returned, if you loose one.

Will mounting them externally not result in cracking over time due to prolonged exposure to the sun?

Why not attach a long line to the rear bumper and then the Trax before getting unstuck, so the truck pulls them out after you've come clear?

Ronnie, is it possible if i was to use a bungie cord attached to the maxtrax and vehicle to tow the maxtrax along? Im thinking especially in times like sand that if you stop to pick up the maxtrax your likely to need them again. Have you ever done this?
