According to Dimitri Stankowicz and Rone, this video is meant to depict a shaman cult worshipping the birth and eventual death of a star (hence the title Bye Bye Macadam) by performing ceremonies involving the forces of nature (such as lightning) displaying the stages of the star's life. More broadly it's the worshipping of the cosmos.

Re visiting this song 5 years later. I used to listen to it every day to cope with serious social anxiety disorder and depression. I forget how it used to make me feel. With how much has changed since then, listening to this is like looking through a window into my past. Meeting the love of my life, leaving my toxic best friend, finding ugly truths, losing myself and finding myself again, my life and world is the most screwed-up it has ever been, but somehow my mind is in the clearest state that has ever been in.

@@Tamara.sharer I do still have it but I think over time I have learned to cope with it and except it. Simple things like working and job interviews, or talking to my family and loved ones were a daily struggle. I had to just force my self to do those things and eventually it felt normal. the more you push yourself the better you'll feel about what you are doing. Simple things like breathing techniques along with music and just remember ing that most people aren't even paying attention. (Mby even try CBD bc that helps alot as well) Trying to imagine my self in my most comfortable state and forgetting about everything else. all that along with music honestly is what really helped and still helps me. The almost ritualistic dance to the moon is steeped in occultism, but the way its combined with quantum visuals, black holes, the warping of space time and other chaotic forces is astonishing and beautiful. It felt deeply right, as if our connection to the forces of nature is truly where spirituality comes from. It is something only felt, not spoken.

I'm not too sure how mad I'll sound when I say this, but when I watch this, it brings this sort of joy and warmth, because when shit gets confusing, or I become unsure about something in my life, I watch this, and it's almost like these things don't need an answer, all these possibilities and things that happen, just happen, and there's a strange comfort knowing that these things will happen from time to time, and you have to just play it out. Don't dwell on the past, don't think of the future just concentrate on the present moment and things will be alright, even when shit goes down. Deep as fuck.

At long last - I love this on the Samsung Galaxy AI advert (I don't care a jot about the advert) but I've tried searching for this piece of mesmerising music several times over the last couple of months without success, was getting results for other Samsung ad music. Now I've found it, and I'm entranced by the energy of this piece and the animation is excellent. On my first watching it felt like woman power, energy and the cosmos! Now I've read other peoples comments below it seems to be a common feeling. There are some special pieces of music that really touch you in your life and I felt immediately drawn to it and wanting to listen to the whole track and I'm not disappointed. Brilliant joyful strong vibe, and definitely makes me feel like I wish the whole of woman-kind would rise up and shake up this goddam warring world and teach too many poor excuses of MEN (yeah I'm one too) to stop being so greedy, hateful, financially, religiously and power motivated, and learn how to be true caretakers of Earth. Maybe its just a feeling of current times, a thread going through my head which I wanted to express, whatever - I don't know? Bye Bye Macadam has some kind of magic and message of belief within about looking to the future and focusing on our eternal souls. It reminds me of another fave and entrancing track of mine called Toy Planet by Irmin Schmidt (find on YT) which is very different but celestial, like a visitation from a powerful watchful knowledge beyond our understanding. Thank you Rone.

When I was a teenager and first found this track, I didn't really realize how perfect of a time capsule it was. It's references to CERN and their weird occult parades at the time, the general anxiety people felt coming out of the market crash that culminated in the whole Mayan calendar thing, how perfect of a representation of the style of the times the animation is with it's hyper smooth lines, the last breathes of a dying genre of club and trance. Music really is the most incredible human invention. I'm glad you're past your pain. And I'm glad something I vibe too so hard is resonating with someone else out there in the universe the same way.

WIKI: Macadam is a type of road construction pioneered by Scottish engineer John Loudon McAdam around 1820, in which crushed stone is placed in shallow, convex layers and compacted thoroughly. A binding layer of stone dust (crushed stone from the original material) may form; it may also, after rolling, be covered with a cement or bituminous binder to keep dust and stones together.

Here's my interpretation: It depicts the story of our universe from its birth to its death, and the women performing the ritual are personifications of cosmic forces: 0:00: 13.8 billion years ago - The Big Bang and the formation of the first atoms 0:40: 13.6 billion years ago - The first stars are born. 0:41: (indeterminate period of time) - Life evolves many times. It flourishes, flaring up into something beautiful and amazing, and is then extinguished, either by natural forces (gamma ray bursts, volcanism, its planet being flung out of the habitable zone of its star, etc.), or by destroying itself (nuclear war, climate change, a flawed AI moral system, etc.). 0:56: (indeterminate point in time) - Eventually, some life somewhere finally manages to spread beyond its home system, escaping extinction, and it then spreads throughout the universe. 1:09: Time goes on, and cosmic events occur in a beautiful, vital universe that's full of life. As the scene goes dark, we see the star at the center flare as it begins to run out of fuel, a warning and reminder that the cosmos is aging and won't go on forever. 1:28: Over hundreds of billions of years stars die and their planets go dark, and new planets are born into the light of their stars to replace them, in a vibrant ebb and flow of the energy of the cosmos. 1:41: 1 trillion years in the future - The last star with enough mass to create a supernova begins running out of fuel, its radiation increasing as it grows in size. The personifications of cosmos, bringing their hands to their heads, appear to be trying to hold it together for as long as they can. But when they can't anymore, they give themselves over to it. The star strips away the atmospheres of its planets that once contained life, before exploding and leaving behind a black hole. 2:21: 1 septillion (10 to the power of 24) years in the future - The last white dwarf stars either run out of residual heat or are consumed by black holes, ending the age of stars. The scene in which the personifications of the cosmos stand covering their eyes may be them expressing grief for the loss the vital system that included star light, chemistry, and life. The personifications of the cosmos appearing to be absorbed by the black hole and then come out of it again may represent the black holes beginning to evaporate through Hawking radiation. 2:51: 1 duodecillion (10 to the power of 39) years in the future - The last stray matter in the universe is consumed by black holes. As the scene closes, we see a smaller black hole evaporate to the point that it explodes. 3:02: 1 googol (10 to the power of 100) years in the future - We see a personification of the cosmos in a bubble representing the last black hole - the last thing in the universe, shrinking away to nothing. Even then, she moves in an expression the beauty of all that exists. 3:21: As that last black hole finally evaporates, leaving behind nothing but radiation, the last personification of the universe within it spins and ascends, summing up and giving meaning to all that was the universe which is now ending. The personifications of the cosmos wear shamanic clothing, which suggests an animistic perspective, and encourages us to look at the universe through that lens, seeing consciousness in natural phenomena, and using that to find spiritual meaning in the world. I think that perhaps the idea here is that finding meaning in the universe (especially one that we understand to be finite) is a question that we all need to come up with an answer to, or adopt an answer that someone else has come up with, such as in the form of a religion. I feel like this video is offering an answer, not with logical philosophy constructed out of ideas, but rather out of something wordless, a feeling of what the universe is, a lens through which to understand it as something beautiful and inherently meaningful.

I feel like this is the story to the video, a beautiful yet sad story of beings that love to create. There was a group of very power full being, they came from nothing to be something. This nothing was the big bang. They wanted to create and build galaxies to frolic. After they became bored of creating worlds and space. Exhausting every idea, they realized they haven't made anything as powerful as them self. So they began experimenting and creating, some where disasters. Worlds were lost and sacrificed for more power. Until they did it. Pushing all of their own energy into this creation and sacrificing themselves. They made it, the ultimate power, one that is so immensely powerful nothing could ever hurt it. That is except its self, this power broke it, continued to consume it until. Until there was no more. The beings where gone, destroyed by there own creation. Though they never will be able to build again, the creations they left behind will never end keeping their spirit alive and continue to create.
