Nice setup! Way to curl those creative muscles! A few years ago, I was able to build a similar rig, super low budget, using a Zhiyun Crane V2 + 4k Panasonic LUMIX FZ 1000 + Galaxy Flycam vest and Arm + a custom mounting pole that I'm still working on fine tuning. Proaim had a product at the time for a gimbal brace mount / yoke that I could customize by assembling a couple carbon fibre gimbal extension poles together to give me some length to work with. The Panasonic camera has a wireless option built in where I can transmit to my iphone, which I use as a mounted monitor, and have on hand camera controls for zooming or adjusting image settings on the fly. You reminded me of one thing I have overlooked, which is the strain on the mounting screws on the pole. So before the screws might break, I think I'll be adding some sort of reinforcement, like some O rings on either side of the join where the screw is, with some small 4-6 inch long flat plates and additional screws to span the gap, to help take the strain off the screw that joins the pole to the gimbal. With how light the Crane gimbal is, and the Panasonic camera, it hasn't been an issue yet, and has felt pretty solid on its own. But why wait for it to break, and find out the hard way that I should have reinforced the join? Thanks for the heads up. :) I still need to find a decent audio manager module of some sort to mount on the bottom of the pole, where I too bored some holes to run my audio cables along the inside, where it won't interfere with the fulcrum point / yoke of the gimbal brace mount. Perhaps wireless audio tech is advanced enough now for me to transmit a boom mic right into the rig, as to reduce the number of wires, and tripping hazards. Again, great video, and thanks for sharing your ideas and designs! Hollywood is crumbling under the weight of bloated idealism and political correctness. So now is our time to take the market back, and more evenly distribute the wealth that films and movies are able to generate. Begun, the age of indie films has! We have the technology now. And its affordable 😎 Here's a video I put together to showcase all the pieces and parts of my current rig which I've dubbed "The Djemini KnightWatch V2" , for you and your viewers to gather a variety of design ideas from: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oZZzg6qbq9jUeo0.html

I Actually Like The Way Emma Think!!! So Clever! Im Waiting for mines to come in the mail.

Genius. I freaking love it. Why didn’t I think of that? I use more high end gear and own a RED helium 8K, but I don’t want to invest in steadicam rig for over $5K. I’m shooting on a BMP6K and since I want to run a small setup with my Ronin, This is golden.

Fantastic! Yes it's just getting the joing between the gimbal and sled right. There's a pro aim arm and vest just up from this which might better suit an 8K rig. Redking is nice and generic though and I've seen lots of Red's on them. Good luck with your set up!

It's so exciting when it all starts coming together and you'll keep finding ways to make gradual improvements. Hope your build goes well!

I've been thinking about getting into a setup like this for a long time now, getting an RS3 Pro with some kind of support, and there are so many different ways to go, like using a Tilta Ring and an Easyrig MiniMax, or using the Redking like you have. I think the advantage of a rig like yours is that you can very easily switch from overhead to underslung shots, which the users of the Easyrig complain is a problem for them. I wanted so suggest, it's not very expensive, if you have extra 1/4-20 or 3/8 threads along your rig, like on your DJI briefcase handle perhaps, there is a very cheap cable management solution called "Sprig" that will pop into the threaded mounts and it's a rubberized hook to hold your HDMI cables. I bought a bag last year and they're invaluable. I'd love to see some examples of the footage you've taken with this setup. Thanks so much for sharing this 🙏

Aww thanks so much for your helpful comment and I look forward to finding more out about the 'Sprig'. This is the last thing that's currently bugging me about this set up. I'll have some examples on the channel very soon! Thanks again!

Nice set up. My advice about ronin rs3 pro is do not charge a battery while the battery is running

Yes that's something I've learned since making this video. Nice to be able to keep topping it up when not in use though. Thanks for that :)

Good stuff Emma. I’ve been gathering the gear and working out a similar rig. I’d like to know where and how you mounted the monitor (hard to make out…tiny details) I was thinking to try rigging something to the Galaxy vest for the monitor.?!
@emmaholbrookfilm3 күн бұрын
Hi David the monitor is just on the 2nd arm stage right by where it meets the sled gimbal. It's on a mini magic clamp that straddles the top of the arm and then a magic arm it mounted to this holding the monitor. I would mount on the arm or the sled itself. Good luck, let me know what you do

Trick was perfect , I liked it .the only thing in your video was indoor shot lighting, you are film maker and you know the lighting very good but why u didn't care about this shot I don't know. Continue with more videos. Good luck girl and happy new year

Hey, yes fair point about the lighting but I didn't have the time, room or energy to set up lights. I would never treat my actual work this way. Don't think of myself at all as a proper KZfaqr or anything, I just wanted to share the information really. But thanks for your comment and encouragement!

Your setup saved me lots of cash thank you! I'm still a little unsure of the tension adjustment on the arm... yours looks a lot springier than mine! Any tips?
@emmaholbrookfilm9 күн бұрын
Sorry for the slow reply. Yes it's not always best to have these arms super tight. I always keep the higher rated springs in the flycam arm now. I have the arm quite loose otherwise it makes it hard to get down low without putting a huge strain on your back. But then you have to use the arm to support the rig properly. It depends on the work your doing. If you're doing a lot of low mode or shooting higher up you need to adjust accordingly. I generally have it on the looser side of medium though to help a cheaper arm do a bet job of shock absorbing. As long as you feel like the rig is properly supported, that your vest is as snug as possible (which is really hard with this one to be fair). Let me know how you get on and thanks for the comment!
