imagine writing a silly song for your silly movie project and a metal God like Ronnie James Dio, who you worship, casually sings his whole heart out for it and turns it into an epic masterpiece
@sortebill3 жыл бұрын
In reality, most Rock vocals are pretty silly, Tenacious D are just kinda "over the top" and they do the "this is very serious" thing in an ironic way. I think that's what make them a great rock band in a time when rock is pretty much dead when it comes to being mainstream music.
@mrvomitman42473 жыл бұрын
I’d like to think that Jack and his crew poured their hearts out into this project through melody but through a comedic filter. I think they spent hours on these songs to perfect them. It just comes off as super silly. I mean one album has Dio, meatloaf and Dave grohl in it. What a dream.

It's worth mentioning some other amazing metal vocalists take hours. And there's doubtless plenty of pop "stars" who do one-take wonders. Jamie LaBrie does his takes line by line and multiple takes for each one. To think that talent only exists in one genre is fucking stupid, frankly.
@benderisgreat50593 жыл бұрын
@@DaveDexterMusic I don’t think he was comparing every metal vocalist to every pop “singer.” I think he was comparing Dio to generic pop stars like Katy Perry. Of course some pop “singers” are good, but pop music still sucks. You basically can’t tell anymore if what you’re listening to is a real person or computer effects. Auto tune is rampant in pop, and is nowhere in metal (that I know of). If you want to compare the genres, metal still wins.

How nice he seems. "Really cool stuff you're working on". Not talking to him from above, just casually being a nice guy. Only musician I actually was very sad about, that he passed away at the age of 67. I was just about to buy cards to his announced tour before he passed away in 2010... never seen him live and i regret it so much...
@AMetalheadsJourney3 жыл бұрын
I've seen him live but I didn't see the last tour with Sabbath. I do regret that. But when I did see him, I was too young to sort of analyze it like I do now but all I remember was that his voice seemed perfect without any flaws. I was amazed by his vocal delivery and how he could be that flawless on stage.

I can only imagine what was going through JB's mind when he heard the might DIO sing his lyrics, putting all the epic Dio passion and power into it. I felt exactly the same about Dio when I was a kid and heard him for the first time and he inspired me to go and find myself. I became a music journalist among other things and had the honor of interviewing RJD two times, just couldn't believe it was him on the phone with me, he was so courteous and professional and real. One of my favorite parts of the movie.

@AMetalheadsJourney3 жыл бұрын
DIO was at another level. He knew exactly how to use his voice like you'd drive a car. Ozzy is more of a hit or miss.
@xCreepyKidsx3 жыл бұрын
I love both but to me Sabbath is all Ozzy, while Dio I prefer in Rainbow and his solo work. Ozzy's solo stuff is good but no where near what he accomplished in Sabbath and he also didn't write his lyrics and battled substance abuse for decades. Dio was clean and sober so he had more control over what he was doing and obviously wrote his own lyrics. Both are Metal gods. Both were/are wonderful people who genuinely loved what they did/do and adored their fans. The contributions they made to music, society, and Metal culture is immeasurable.

@@patmctallica3522 Agreed. That album is one of Dio's best and a best for Sabbath as well. Mob Rules and Dehumanizer have their moments but Heaven and Hell was right off the heals of Ozzy getting kicked out and Dio leaving Rainbow, so they definitely put their all into that record.
