Is it only me or do the cushions (especially in the first frame shown) seem unreasonably bouncy? I can see the cue ball get a slight jump off of them every time, it's rather frustrating because I'm sure the players were playing trying to compensate for that.

well, and then, 4 years later, Ronnie was 5-2 against john higgins, in the quarter final, where higgins was winning by 58 points and missed a ball... then Ronnie got a 6-5 victory... tremendous.

Ronnie must have been very straight on the Black at 25:50. He wanted to play with follow(top spin) then 2 cushions and bring the cue ball somewhere around Pink for the next Red (similar to 26:40). But he was very straight on the Black. Notice that he played the shot very hard. Playing a shot very hard even at a slight angle throws the cue ball sufficiently off the line. That way, the cue ball would have gone off line and avoided the pocket. However, he went in-off. This is because he played the ball perfectly straight (unintentionally) instead of playing at a slight angle.

In Snooker, you don't decrease points like that. Your opponent gets points for your foul. For Ronnie's foul Kyren got 7 points.

I have stated myself that snooker is closer to chess than checkers, but to compare it in any fashion to war is as foolish as saying the game of Risk is the moral equivalent of war.
