Roof of Africa - Kilimanjaro (Machame Route)

The Machame route, also known as the "Whiskey" route, is the most popular route on Kilimanjaro. Machame’s draw is in its scenic beauty. However, the trail is considered difficult, steep and challenging, particularly due to its shorter itinerary. Therefore this route is better suited for more adventurous folks or those with some high altitude, hiking or backpacking experience.
The route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the south, beginning with a short drive from Moshi to Machame Gate. The path leads hikers through the rain forest to Shira Plateau. Here, many of Kilimanjaro’s routes converge. Then the route turns east and traverses underneath Kilimanjaro's Southern Ice Field on a path known as the Southern Circuit before summiting from Barafu. Descent is made via the Mweka route.

Congrats. I summited six months after you on 1 Jan 2020 via the 8 day Lemosho route. The entire top of the mountain was covered in deep snow (you could not even see any rocks around the sign) and we were lucky to summit on a beautiful, completely clear day. Thanks to the longer itinerary, all 16 in our group made it to the top. And our support team was much bigger, and sorry to say this, much, much better at singing than yours. :) I doubt I'll ever do it again, but if I did, I would try the Northern Circuit to see the other side of the mountain.

I actually did mine on Feb 2019 and the machame route was a good balance of what I wanted. it was just myself a my friend, hence smaller choir. If I ever do it again, probably during the colder season with a better outlook of the glacier before it completely melts

I'm in Western Canada. My goal is 5 of the 7 summits. Although trying to climb in russia might have to wait for a while. So I will climb Mont Blanc as the substitute of europes highest.
