I’ve always wondered why not just have/run arm restraints...? I understand switches and levers that’ll become out of reach but move them within reach?

What we use in Sprint cars and was wondering why not arm restraints? It limits the reach and you do have pretty good range of motion but maybe not enough for these cars. Maybe Tim can chime in on arm restraints.

Thanks for another informative video Tim. Anything safety is a good thing. Sadly it seems to take an injured driver to bring about changes. This is a great idea for ANY door car, so are the side panels in the door X

Hay Tim, We run a door slammer here in Australia (similar to your promod) and our driver always wears arm restraints which fit just under the elbow and clips into the harness. It appears to me the driver in that first roll over didn't have these. Wouldn't this restraint negate the requirement for an extra roof panel and aren't arm restraints a requirement in the states.

If the car is flipping violently like the crash that caused this change that carbon panel is coming off just like the rest of the body did

What about the fastener sticking up from the tab. Will it get ground off. How brittle is the carbon panels. Will they flex with impacts to them or just shatter or have the fasteners ripped out.

Why cant a hockey puck be utilized well that what we called them , We ran those on our stunt bikes so when we would crash they slid on those and ground those down instead of the engine case. I use a hybrid plastic that's hard as steel but light as hell in my shop on wear pads. Those used on the roof pucks might be the ticket and they are light.

Why can’t you weld a tab halfway down the tube and then use a stand-off to attach the panel?
@philiplogemann314
@philiplogemann314 4 жыл бұрын
snail5341 from the video you can see that there are standoffs, the panel would have to be formed specifically for your chassis if there were not standoffs, you couldn't just use a flat sheet of carbon. If I was building a car I would just put the carbon panel on the inside of the cage, that would get the tabs even further away and your arms couldn't get caught on the tube
