Too early for awards right now. Even Shohei was phenomenal in first few starts last season, then he got smoked in some games increasing his ERA, and even Valdez with the Astros having a great start to close to the end of the season, then got smoked in the end.

Hes good. A great addition to the Cub's rotation. I prefer a great pitcher over a great hitter any day. Its still early but this guy is on my must see list! Hes flourishing in his first MLB season and it is fun to see.

Imanaga has managed to adapt himself to a slippery American baseball, a hard mound and strike zones in such a short amount of time. This IS huge for any Japanese pitchers. And most of all, he seems to feel right at home playing in MLB and he's having fun.

@@626resell , I was reading pro analysists comment about differences between these two pitchers. They said that Yamamoto's fast ball is faster than Imanaga but hitters can hit Yamamoto's ball and Imanaga can get them out. That's because of the ball's location, they said. Imanaga throws inside high fast ball and when the ball comes close to the hitters they feel like it's faster than it's actually is. On the other hand, Yamamoto pitches to outside low but MLB players are bigger and they have longer arms so they can reach and hit his fast ball just like Ohtani. They said that Yamamoto should pitch inside high fast ball more often.

ホークス→ジャイアンツの杉内俊哉のようにゆっくりとしたフォームから球持ちの良い投げ方をするから見た目以上に球が伸びてくる ストレートを空振り、ボールの下を振らせることが出来る (山本由伸が苦労しているのはストレートで空振りを取れないから変化球を軸に組み立てないといけないからだ) 相手もグローブと反対側にセーフティバントをして工夫をしている 結果フィールディングの良さが分かって今後はやらなくなるだろう 研究しても打てないのが今永のストレート NPBが何年も苦労した球を簡単にはメジャーでも攻略出来ない

むしろ山本は毎年「今年はハズレか？」と思わせるようなスロースターターだから、それを知ってる日本人からすれば山本は通常どおり。一方の今永は期待以上の活躍だがシーズン終盤まで本当に好調が維持できるのか不安もあるけど、このまま行けるところまで突っ走ってほしい。投手が本当に試されるのは暑くなった夏だから。
