LOL......Wait to you go local and you have old trailers that are rusted and your out there by yourself. Right way to go with Prime for your training there an awesome company. I don't think you can go to school and go right to local anymore, mainly because of insurance companies telling the trucking Newbies need more time on the road. Great video and great channel!!!

Thank you Joshua. Yes this was one of the reasons I went to prime.

Trucker John that and the fact the other two companies didn't even pick up there phones!! LOL .....Joking but that goes to show you Prime is a good company. Now could you imagine having to deal with a person from CR England about missing half your pay and there being rude to you......You would be lucky to ever see that money. Its a game with alot of big carriers and hiring newbies who know 0 about trucking.....Its ashame and gives good companies a bad rep.

Great video! Was wondering what it looked like to “slide the tandems”. Now I know - thank you for the great visuals!!

Yes for the slide!! i had to slide tandems on my first load, from GA to TX
@lDreaxl3 жыл бұрын
My sister had a load that wasn’t loaded right and either the trailer didn’t have the tandem slide or it didn’t work and we had to shift the load manually. Not a fun night.

In Australia 80,000lbs is a light truck for city deliveries only, not used for OTR. You would go broke, our trucks can have a gross of 154323.58lbs to over 400000lbs for quad trailers check this vlog out ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rLWUm6tlxM2Zn40.html )

Nice 👍🏻 informative video glad to see you progressing. I’ve made attempt to apply but theirs a glitch in the application. Will not allow you to update your address history for some reason. What’s crazy soon as I filled it out after bypass the glitch within 5 min the pulse app said I was denied didn’t even get a explanation so I’m lost at this moment. Anyways be safe out there, thanks again for the video.

How do you know when to stop moving the tandems forward or backward when you’re in the truck? That pin has to line up with the hole so it seems like there’s not much room for error. 🤔
@captain.john.3 жыл бұрын
Good question and you're correct. Once you slide them all the way forward to hole #1, you have to guesstimate which hole it's passing as you then slide backwards. After some practice you'll guess which hole you're at fairly accurately.

If weight isn’t a problem what’s the best position to be driving your tandems in?
@captain.john.3 жыл бұрын
The further back the tandems the wider you have to turn. If the tandems are all the way forward you can corner tighter.
@joshuadavis64503 жыл бұрын
@@captain.john. so you personally if weight isn’t an issue where do you normally drive with your tandems? Half way?
@captain.john.3 жыл бұрын
@@joshuadavis6450 halfway is great and the further forward the easier to make tight turns.

Thanks. In thinking about fuel weight and distribution would that weight be split between the front axle and drives or all on the drives? Also, how many gallons of diesel will the Freightliner hold?
@captain.john.3 жыл бұрын
Over the drive axel. Steers should never change. My truck holds 200 gallons. 6 lbs per gallon that's 1200 lbs. So if I know I'm going to be fully loaded at 80k lbs I wouldn't fill up during my trip.
