0:24 in... Pay attention listen over as many times as it starts to sink in (extremely Important)! Thanks for the video as I've been saying this for over 30 years and it still amazes me how many still chase the gear...

One of the best videos I’ve watched on room acoustics. If you watch 10 videos, you likely get 10 contradictory opinions. Most videos I’ve watch contradict this one by claiming that a ‘shoe box’ shaped room and parallel walls are detrimental to good audio reproduction. I’m no expert in room acoustics. But as my audiophile journey started in the early 80s my experimentation in varying speakers and components and experience of moving home several times with out really paying much attention to the room, has shown me that a family lounge with it’s a ray of soft and not soft furnishings normally negates the necessity for further treatment. As I’ve slowly climbed the audiophile ladder, I’ve realised that the more accurate your audio reproduction is, particularly your ‘off access’ response, then the less influential the room becomes. Since moving into a new home with my current wife and our family, my hifi literally has to fight for it’s right to be part of our family lounge, which is 19 feet long, 18 feet 6 inches wide, 8 feet 6 inches high, s L-shaped as it is open plan with a 11 feet long by 6 feet wide by 8 feet 6 inches high kitchen running odd the back wall, or, wall behind the listening position. My floors are a mixture of hard wood and ceramic tiles on solid concrete on block and beam. My walls are parallel and plasterboard. My ceiling, which separates me from the 1st floor apartment above is solid concrete. I’ve employed absolutely no room treatment other than a large plush rug, placed in front of and between my large floorstanders which are 27 inches from the wall behind them. The rug was placed there for aesthetic purposes, but may? play a roll in room acoustics. My speakers are 10 feet apart, with the listening position entered about a distance of 12 feet 6 inches from the speakers. As you can doubtless see, far from ideal, dependant upon which camp you subscribe to. But, I sincerely believe I’ve achieved accurate and enjoyable sound reproduction with my choice of electronics and speakers. Could I make improvements to that audio reproduction with the intervention of proffessional room treatment? Probably. But I have to balance my love for well reproduced music, against my love for my wife. My wife would be harder to replace than my hifi and, divorce can be extremely costly. But, at least I know she wouldn’t fight me for custody of the hifi. In the interest of calmness, well-being and general contentment, I’ll settle with maintaining that fine balance.

Your comment about parallel walls is not complete, perhaps you should read more on this subject (and I am a acoustics expert)...

@@audiononsense1611 I made no comment regarding parallel walls other than to say that I’m not an expert vut, if you listen to ‘experts’ you get opposing opinions on the subject. If ‘experts’ can’t agree, then what chance does the humble audiophile have?

About 7 min into the video….In stereo, to produce the sound outside the speakers can only be done with phase manipulation effect or complete isolation of respective channel speaker/ear which can be achieved by crosstalk cancellation. The best way to hear sound effect producing sound outside the speakers like the one you find in Amused to Death album is to hear with reduced room interaction.

Check out my video with the stereo test tone. if you placed your speakers properly, you will hear the two extreme test tones outside your speakers and your speakers will disappear.

What software do you recommend that you're using in this video

For the room mode estimation, you can use this online tool: amcoustics.com/tools/amroc For your speakers placement, please check out my other video with the stereo test tone which will help you to optimize your sound.

@@goldensound9741 I checked out the room acoustic stool but it was difficult to follow what the heck they were trying to prove. Is it separate software is there a microphone involved how do you simply just put in the dimensions of your room and see what the send comes up with. Which I did but it wasn't very helpful. Seems if you want to test the room you need a microphone and tool doesn't really seem to get there.
