The story behind this song makes it so much better. "Rooster" was the nick name of Jerry Cantrell's (AIC guitarist) father during Vietnam. This song is obviously about dealing with all of the hardships of that war.
The music video shows actual clips of him in Vietnam. I think it's safe to say that Cantrell's dad was a total badass. Hope I did this legendary song some justice. Rock on!
