for anyone that can't find the config file your looking in the wrong folder. after you unhid hidden folders you need to go into the bluestacks.ntx folder in ProgramDATA! not programs files.

Works perfect. Used on Bluestack 5.20.10 version. Make sure to check "READ ONLY" for config file as video instructed!!

my version of blustacks didnt show "root access" under "device settings"...but i went ahead and used root checker and it did indeed show that it was rooted. so thank you for the video

That bluestacks he was experimenting with was Bluestacks 1, that's why there's still enable root option, for further bluestacks, it has been hidden, so more likely that this tutorial is missing some details!

root checker still says it's unrooted for some reason though i have access to app data after changing the config file and the option in bluestacks menu is checked
