Its really interesting how everyone forgets Angelo Mathews. Scored a hundred in a first innings, not mentioned in the description. On top of that, although he just scored 18 in the second, he held onto 90 balls which is what counts in saving a test match situation.

Damn. It was Sanga making his first Lord's ton but look at the joy on Mahela's face. True friendship in and off the pitch. They were the pillars that held SL cricket together. You are now seeing what happens when there aren't any real leaders in the teams. That's what we lack. But hey, that's depressing to think about. Also talking about this game, I love how the guys held their nerves. Come the next game it was England in the back foot and they lost the game in a very similar fashion. Jimmy played great just to be done in by a trick ball. I remember watching this series and I gotta say, it's one of my favorite test series. And easily one of the most dramatic series I have seen. On a side note, should have posted the final over and the penultimate over in full. Those two over were that tense.

2001 to 2014 was a good period of time to sl when star players like sanga, mahela, murlidharan, dilshan, malinga ,herath ,srilankan team had gon three time in final and won one time in wc cricket bcoz of these star players but now it become very weak team than bangladesh angelo then perera have great opportunity to regain team what they were in previous

errrm its actually from 96 - 2015 kid - and they are not weaker than BD as they have recently smashed BD in test series in SL and away in BD including ODI and T20 series. Furthermore SL beat SA in SA in test series not too long ago to become first asian team to win test series in SA and only the 3rd team to win there.

No imo that would be Gilchrist, played his entire career as keeper whereas Sanga gave up the gloves towards the end, plus Gilly was a better keeper overall, Sanga was a much better batsman in test matches though. Sanga isn't even the most important Sri Lankan keeper, for me that was kaluwitharana, he revolutionized the position, there would be know gillys or McCullums if he hadn't changed the position. He and jayasuriya opening the batting in the 90s changed the way odi cricket was played

Agreed. I'm Aussie and I really enjoy the Sky commentary. David Gower, Nasser and Ian Botham are always very fair and provide good insight without going over the top. And what batting! Root = wow! and Sangakarra, those drives on one knee...doubel wow!
