In this video, I will show you how to propagate lavender cuttings in water in winter. Rooting lavender cuttings in plain water is a simple process where you start with taking cuttings off the lavender bush. You can do it at the same time when you prune your lavender - see video here: • How to Prune Lavender
Upon selection of good and healthy cuttings, cut off the bottom bit of the stems, apply pressure to flatten, dip in cinnamon powder (instead of rooting hormone) and place them in a masons jar or plastic container 3/4 filled with clean, preferably rainwater. You can also use homemade rooting hormone, check here: • Homemade Rooting Hormo...
Keep the jar indoors, near the window, changing the water twice a week.
In a few weeks, the tiny roots should emerge. In the next episode, I will show you the progress and (hopefully) some rooted cuttings.
Update: here is the next episode, where I pot rooted lavender cuttings (60 days later): • Rooting Lavender in Wa...

I'm excited to see the results of this. I've subscribed so I don't miss it. I tried this last year but I planted them too soon and they didn't make it. I'm going to take my cuttings in a few days!

I've taken cuttings for White Buddleia and Hydrangea's and made a video on these about 3 years ago. Also took cuttings for Spirea, Lavender and Hebe's.

Cut just above the woodiness, you want to leave at least some green on the plant. Then you should be golden

I kept them near the window, with no direct sunlight, and changed the water at least twice a week. it is summer here now, I already repotted them twice and still keep them in a shaded location away from direct sunlight. will plant them in the ground in mid-autumn... thank you for watching :)
