Yes thank you for this, a hint toward the generalized solution was all I needed; distributive property and other tricks work nicely but not so much when you are working with varibales/arguments in place of defined numerical constant I am trying to solve this geometry problem I made, I need to solve for this one variable z³ in terms of θ and c and s, I have z³−(c+2)z²+(2c²+1)z−(c-s⋅tan(θ))=0 and I want to isolate z, I;m going to try to derive the rest of the cubic root formula myself after watching the first 2:33 minutes because it is rewarding to solve things myself if i can

You can just guess dude My first guess is x=4, y=2. Sub in, 64+8=72 Perfect. One shot. x-y, thus equals 2. Done
