Hoodoo is a CLOSED practice and requires that you are a descendant of enslaved African peoples/are African/African-American/Afro-[….]
In short, if you do not identify as African, African-American, Black or Afro-[….] you cannot participate in the practice of Hoodoo, what you decide to do will be something; it just ain’t Hoodoo. These readings are not my own written words, I do have videos of my own lived experiences, study and thought; the purpose of these videos is to present information and study to those of us who have felt called and need some direction.
Always do your own study, research, and remember that your Hoodoo is YOURS and from YOUR FOLK; what is right is what you’re led to do in spirit and knowing.

The current Hoodoo texts in my library are:
The Haitian Vodou Handbook: Protocols for Riding with the Lwa Protocols for Riding with the Lwa
Rootwork: Using the Folk Magick of Black America for Love, Money and Success Using the Folk Magick of Black America for Love, Money and Success
Jambalaya: The Natural Woman's Book of Personal Charms and Practical Rituals The Natural Woman's Book of Personal Charms and Practical Rituals
The Handbook of Yoruba Religious Concepts (Weiser Classics Series)
Hoodoo Medicine: Gullah Herbal Remedies Gullah Herbal Remedies
Stories of Rootworkers & Hoodoo in the Mid-South (American Heritage) American Heritage
Sticks, Stones, Roots & Bones: Hoodoo, Mojo & Conjuring with Herbs Hoodoo, Mojo & Conjuring with Herbs
Mojo Workin': The Old African American Hoodoo System The Old African American Hoodoo System
All texts are NOT written by Black folk, those that are written by non-Black peoples are researched based, and have been given permission to be shared by the community; those non-Black authors are not practitioners, understand they cannot be practitioners and are conducting respected and appreciated ethnogrpahic archival work of a tradition and practice.
As Zora Neale Hurston taught us all, we aren’t telling t h e m the entire story, just enough so WE can be led to the entire story. Ameen.

Interesting historical info. The part about Haitians and spitting reminded me of the time I was at this Haitian lady’s beauty parlor getting my hair done and some Jamaican guy came in and asked her for something and she said no and when he walked back outside he spit outside the door and walked away. The Haitian lady actually went out in front where he spat and she started fussin and then she spit on the ground as well. That was the craziest ish ever! 🤣

@@Wintersno I'm not saying black Americans don't have African ancestry (technically everyone on the planet does). I'm saying black people were here in the Americas before the Europeans came . African spirituality and practices are for African people. Tap Into western/European spiritual practices and ancestry.
@gingerannamae6308
@gingerannamae6308 10 ай бұрын
@shmswneter8876 I strongly disagree. I didn't need to be Egyptian to study their various pantheons, beliefs, and magical practices, nor did I need to be Irish to study Celtic magic. The colonials adapted English practices into an entirely new practice, which was promptly wiped out until Gerald Gardner introduced Wicca, and sparked new interest in paganism in general. To not include African based practices into the basic principles of magical practice would be disrespectful and trivializing.
@jacklyneverage3881
@jacklyneverage3881 10 ай бұрын
@@gingerannamae6308 Spoken like a true European colonizer having no respect for the people who produced this tradition telling them how you are going to use their practices regardless if they like it or not. Your answer is why you don't need to learn the tradition. Hoodoo is specific to those of African descent because it is ancestor based and mainly of African ancestors who were enslaved here by your people aka Europeans! Take your colonizer self and stick to the European tradition and stop sounding like a slave master bully trying to get into a spiritual tradition that has nothing to do with your ancestry. It is not for you or other Europeans. And just because you study something, that doesn't mean it's for you! Girl bye.
