He should have became a main, was lowkey excited for season 3 to end because I assumed his role would become larger in S4, I was painfully wrong :( I was excited to see him and Sam's friendship blossom!

4:18 Is anyone going to tell Sam that Sean Connery was Scottish not Irish?
@morbidsearch6 ай бұрын
To be fair the accent in Northern Ireland is heavily influenced by Scottish because of the plantations.

After finding out about Irelands native Gaelic sport Hurling I'm starting to think the advice 'don't die' is better suited to it then it is to dodgeball. Would love to see those footballers and cheerios try to play that game, I know I'd be terrible at it but I don't go around acting like I can do anything or play anything like they do. I doubt that even 'Rick the Stick' would be able to keep up. The jerk bullies in this show could all do with the humiliation of being slaughtered in a game, take them down a peg or two so they'll stop slushing everyone. Best explanation I can find: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mM92lsqGp5-cnqc.html

Yeah he was robbed of plot lines and solos in this show. And I'm sorry but I can't forgive Artie for calling him 'Irish' or saying that he can't understand what he's saying (don't remember how I felt about it when I first saw that episode but since then I've heard a lot about Ireland's history and how the Irish were generally treated in America and I'm slightly disgusted that anyone thought that would be a good joke)
@morbidsearch6 ай бұрын
To be fair many people in Ireland can't understand the Derry accent. I'm from the south west and I know people who have to watch Derry Girls with subtitles. And don't feel too bad for Irish American immigrants. Their descendants were assimilated into "white" after a generation.

No because the Rory x Sam friendship/whatever it would have developed into was one of the storylines I was the most interested in seeing get played out and I was so mad when he ended up just leaving the show because they just kept him pretty much as a background NPC. That friendship could've been such a huge storyline, for Sam too, who was actually a pretty central character by then, or at least on his way to becoming one. Such a loss lol

3:07 Is that joke really appropriate considering the potato famine? Sorry, but it was just funnier on Derry Girls when Clare was panicking over the how little revision they'd done for the history exam and said "We've barely even looked at the famine!' and Michelle said: "we got the gist. They ran out of spuds, everyone was raging." Then everyone involved in the show was Irish, not just one character who was written off after one season. Also the jokes about accents are funnier in Derry Girls, if not for the dialect jokes then the fact that it's in reference to all the jokes over the years of 'can't understand an Irish accent' from anglo countries like England or America which are actually kind of racist

Are you really surprised? Glee constantly used stereotypes as a crutch.
@morbidsearch6 ай бұрын
And I know I said this in my reply to your other comment but calling a Derry accent hard to understand is not that offensive when many people in Ireland can't understand it.
