Amen to that, Sean! I once got to perform for him, and it was the proudest day of my entire career. Nothing will ever top the feeling of meeting him, when he gave me a crooked grin and said, "Yer soundin' brilliant up there, keep up the great work!" I used to drink like there was no tomorrow, literally, a common enough problem for Irish blues players, but I quit drinking the day I learnt that Rory had passed away. That decision is probably the only reason I'm still around to play today. There'll never be another Rory, God love him!

No, never happened, just a hoax , nice story, but nothing more than a fairytale. There is no interview, or any other article that verify this urban legend. Even Donal, his brother and manager says it is just the sprout of someone's vivid imagination.
@DirkjeA7 жыл бұрын
If that interview exists and Jimi said that , it would have been accessible world wide, because it is a Dick Cavett interview, Hendrix's relatives have no rights on the Dick Cavett show and even for the 10 bucks you state Jimi's family asks for the interview, someone would have posted that particular part somewhere, just to silence this stupid hoax. Btw, the interview with Dick Cavett was on July the 7nd 1969, just after Woodstock and no Rory was mentioned in that interview. So sorry to tell you it is really just a hoax and destroy your illusion, as I said before, nice story, but a fairytale. And how or why would Donal know all that Hendrix said in interviews? Until now, no one can point out one article or interview where Hendrix said that, and conveniently you come up with one that is not "open" for the public? Maybe you should read other articles, like the link I will give you. As for your comment about being close-minded ..... I have another opinion, does that make me close minded? Dude, that remark says more about yourself. But hey, I hold no grunge, read the article and maybe you will see that Jimi's life was no peaches and cream life and that had nothing to do with Rory being a better guitarplayer. How petty you must think Jimi was when confronted with someone who plays better than him in his opinion and getting depressed by it. forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/jimi-hendrixs-last-gig-the-inside-story.328577/
@DirkjeA7 жыл бұрын
I will not lose sleep over it either, to me something has to be proven to be true, just saying somewhere out there in the big world there must be proof is just as vague as the hoax on itself. But I wish you great nights and sweet dreams every night.

Interesting to think what MIGHT had been had he joined Deep Purple. David Coverdale said he was one of 3 considered. Bolin, Jeff Beck and Rory. Kind of a "Burn" feel to this song. We know the Bolin story but still what would this song have sounded like on the Come Taste The Band album. Would this have been better than Comin Home as an opener?

Wow, that's great. Most people not born in East Germany either don't know its origin or assume something outlandish - a Japanese name, being derived from an American guitar company and some even more strange theories. And I didn't know that the novels were distributed outside the GDR/Eastern bloc. Interesting! Funnily enough, as unusual and specific as Tokei-ihto - which is of course the correct spelling of it - might be, the name was already taken when I first signed up on youtube. Oh well ...
