I remember in 2019 when both clubs were in european finals most arsenal fans said they would rather lose the europa league if it meant spurs loses the champions league as well. The entire point of football is being more successful than your rivals. And if losing a game meant your rivals won't win a trophy then so be it.

I can understand being relieved after the game and admitting you're glad Arsenal won't win, but also being upset on missing out on top four and the money it brings in given how you started this season. You realise if he even addresses the narrative and doing things for fans, it can be considered "tanking", "match-fixing" or even "spot-fixing" if he talks about elements of the game. No professional football entity is allowed to do these things so the idea of even addressing the legitimacy of a narrative like "losing the game for Arsenal to not win the league" would just be silly on Ange's part. I am a city fan btw but also, even if Spurs did win the game, Arsenal would win the league because of their performances during the year, not just the last game. We lost to Wolves and Arsenal took 4 points from us. It has a little to do with Spurs but not all.

However, Spurs not so long ago were at one point challenging for the Premier League title under Pochettino but they couldn't get it done and failed to win any silverware and their decline in the 18/19 season sent Spurs back to mediocrity. As a Spurs fan, I 100% disagree. It’s embarrassing and it shows the same shit mentality that’s seen us trophy-less for ages. ESPECIALLY when 1. Arsenal still aren’t guaranteed the league and 2. Aston Villa had not yet secured CL. It’s not completely inaccurate when champions league football is on the line. If that wasn’t the case it would make much more sense. Big players are much more attracted to teams who play in the competition along with the monetary gain from it. It can truly be key to changing the squad in a positive way.

I can understand hating a rival team in such a way that you want that team to lose at almost all costs, but for that to be a higher priority than your own team's success seems a terrible way to be a sports fan. And for Tottenham fans to consider winning the league this year to be the only measure of success, as Rory seems to be suggesting, is misguided at best and poisonous at worst. Spurs were never going to win the league this year, but had then gotten Champions League football for next season, that would have capped what has already been a very solid season for the club.
