That was the most genuine reaction I've seen so far - and I've seen a lot. Your smile during the performance said it all... thanks mate. From a Bowie freak of over 50 years.

Wild Is The Wind is a song composed by Tiomkin and Washington for the soundtrack of a film, sung by Johnny Mathis, but the first version I heard was that of Bowie...and that of Nina Simone, both magnificent...Bowie was a crazy admirer of Nina Simone!!! Thank you!!!!

My favourite song by David Bowie. I prefer the studio version but this is a very good rendition.

*Rory.* Thanks 😊 Love this man, in all his stages. ♥️ Legend 🔥 Bowie recorded "Wild is the Wind" as a tribute to his friendship with Nina Simone. They became close friends in the early 70s, and he was v supportive of her as she was struggling professionally at this time, and also battling bipolar disorder. The song had originally been performed by Johnny Mathis, but people remember Nina's haunting version. This stunning Bowie performance was from 2000, more than 2 decades after he recorded it for 'Station to Station.' I hope you're able to do Nina's version at some point as well. 🤞😊

Thanks for that, Rory. I heard db's recording of this on the radio years ago and it just felled me and sent me flying at the same time. It's been a personal thing to enjoy since then. It was wonderful to see your reaction, drawing a circle around what this song meant to the artist and a whole audience, as well as the solo listener, all at once

This song.. omg thank you for playing it. This is actually a standard - not something Bowie wrote but he sings it so brilliantly - as good as any Billie Holiday etc. He missed his intro at the start and let it show but no big deal, he's a pro and the band is obviously going to let him back in. I've loved this song since I heard it as a teenager and it's really way up there in my top favorite Bowie recordings. The man can croon like no one else. He just wraps his voice around you and there's no escape. Not that you'd ever want to. This is the thing he has in common with Elvis, when he wants to he's a world class crooner. THANK YOU for playing this today. Moved me to tears.

As a child, David Bowie told his parents that he wanted to become the British Elvis Presley... Quite an ambition. What's more, like his idol, he was born on 8 January... That must be a sign... "Every man has a black star, A black star, over his shoulder, And when a man sees his dark star, he knows... his time has come." These are the opening words of "Black Star", a somewhat obscure song by Elvis Presley released in 1960. Whether by chance or not, Blackstar is also the name of David Bowie's last album, a testamentary album released on 8 January 2016, David Bowie's 69th birthday, 2 days before his death...
