One of the very best country singers we have. She is authentic and we sure need more like her!

Many years back I was at a function in a city in northern Canada and I had a chance encounter with an aboriginal man a few years older than myself. He asked me if I had ever heard this song and I replied yes. He then asked me to look at it in a different way after he told his story. He was a residential school survivor and informed me that when the children were yanked away from their parents, quit a few were shipped by train and to this day the sound of a train brings him great sadness. He asked me if I had the song at home, which I did, to which he replied "when you go home, play the song and think of yourself as a young child in a dormitory full of other children the first night away from home, not knowing when you would go home ". I did and to this day when I hear this song that is all I can think of. Whether you think that the residential school system had good intentions or not, put yourself in that childs' world and the thousands that went and for the ones that never came back. It is perhaps the greatest shame this great nation has produced and should never be forgotten. It never fails to bring a tear to my eye, which is mixed with the tears of so many children who can never forget.

That song is 60 years old, and if it was released now for the first time, with Ms.Cash singing it, it would top the charts Nation wide, No Question!

Saw her in San Francisco about 10 years ago, wonderful performer, her smile and mere presence was intoxicating, so much energy. She also really loves her audiences and it shows, she's so humble.

She is her fathers daughter standing as she stands on stage in his direct profile, his same stance. She owns a presence not unlike the one he had and this she shares with him.
