My grandpa and his family were Gaels who originated in Ireland and lived in Scotland until WW2 when they fled to Sweden. Sadly i never got to met him. Fois dhut ❤

Irish learner here, I want to tell you the panorama of things, I will tell you this way, the future of the Irish language is not in Ireland, I am learning Irish and it is easy for me, there are many words that are similar, but I am not Irish, I am Argentine, Irish is extremely difficult for English speakers, they do not conjugate verbs, they do not have so many consonants, they do not have grammatical cases, unfortunately Irish will die in Ireland, but it will live in the rest of the world

This song inspired "Come out Ye Black and Tans". The melody was used, but the lyrics were changed because this song lyrics originated during the Jacobite Rebellion.

@@anillusory sorry for the big spiel but i'll try and explain what I mean; All dependant on who's lense you wish too look through, the status quo more nationalist lense dictates that Ireland was a colony on par with Sierra Leone or New Zealand, in which Britain was actively in the process of eliminating every Gael on the Island, through conversions, killings and deportations. Whereas the Unionist lense (which I will admit is my own) Dictates that Ireland as a cohesive political entity was invented by Britain and has had multiple attempts too integrate the people culminating in the 1800 Act of Union, which elevated Ireland into being a core part of the UK, on par with Brabant in the Netherlands. There is truth and grave errors within both lenses, but I get frustrated as to how everyone only looks at Ireland through one without any heed for the other.
