Wow! Things are certainly changing and looking good Linda. OK, still a little way to go so I'll be looking forward to the update in due course. 'Raining now'. What's rain? I've forgotten what it looks like. Dare I say it, we could do with some down here. When all is laid, built and erected there'll be plenty of sorting out to do. Pots here and there etc. etc. Your roses are certainly looking really good as is the whole garden; really colourful. Sounds like the cold hasn't quite gone yet but on it's way. I hope the weather clears up for you and things progress well next week. P.

@peterhaymaker7562 Hi Peter, yes it's been quite wet here today, one of those grey drizzly days. The garden is a bit of a mess but the builders are working well so hopefully shouldn't be too long like this. Sounds like you could do with some rain now, I hope you're enjoying your garden, June is almost out and I'm gardening in a fleece and a rain coat ! haha, take care have a good weekend.

@kenvoong Hi Ken, thanks. Yeah everything is bunched up tightly together at the moment so strolling around my garden which is something I do every morning with my coffee is not possible, dead ends everywhere haha but that's okay it's only temporary.

Your patio looks great already even though it’s not finished. I’m having my patio done too at the moment . My garden is like yours. Everything packed to one side and covered in dust. I’m sure it’s worth it when it’s all finished.

@Lin_Greenfinger Thanks Lin, we're getting there, they are doing a good job and they are neat and tidy which helps. I feel for you in the same boat as me, it's not ideal is it when the garden is full of flowers but we had to postpone this work which was supposed to be Jan/Feb because Lewie was not well so they fit us in where they could with their schedule. Hopefully as you say it will be worth it, I hope all goes well with your patio. Enjoy the quiet days when you can ! Take care.

I have seen the one or two paving stones your gonna lift up for your baseless pots :) Your garden is looking fab Linda. I’ve no doubt people will be commenting as they pass. Packed full of goodness. Packed full of interest in every square inch. I’m sure people will slow down as they pass!

If you tell me you get scent from that maid of Kent I will not be happy. And if you see a second flush I will be even more unhappy!:) 😂😂😂

@@Jay_Jay haha I saw Maid Of Kent at David Austin's and what a sight to see that was ! plus I liked it's pliability for training on to a structure so it's been on the list for two years. I read a blog last year about another magnificent one at Kew so this new arch has to have it. It's going in ground so hopefully it will be happy there, it's south facing. 🤞

Hi Linda, Your building work is coming along nicely and I'm glad that it's not been as stressful as you thought. Sounds like you have good ,tidy builders. Must've been hot for them if they were working in last week's heat. We seem to have escaped those high winds that you've been getting. It's a wonder that you didn't get blown over when you were filming. I must try and master the art of deadheading with my fingers. I see you and all of our gardening friends doing it but I seem to make awful tears which can't be good for my roses. Your garden is looking so colourful. Just what a garden should be like. xxx

@wendybartlett6717 Hi Wendy, it seems to be going well so far, they did remark 'you've got a lot of pots haven't you' The trouble is when you have to shift them all at once it really looks like I have a problem and need help weening myself off haha. Deadheading doesn't always work with fingers, I know what you mean I usually use snips but some roses let you snap some heads off. It's hard to resist when you're so close up with a camera and at the time I had a lot of deadheading to do :) I enjoyed some quiet time over the weekend tidying the roses up and faffing about just me and the birds, it was nice. Hope you had a good weekend? It's a bit drizzly off and on today a miserable day here but the workmen are keeping going. I have a nice new path to my greenhouse today which is wonderful the old one was a complete dippy doo all over and very dodgy in wet weather full of puddles and an ice rink in winter ! How sad am I the best thing is my new greenhouse path haha I hope you had a lovely weekend in your garden we just need a bit of sunshine to come back now, take care xxx

@@soulgirlktf Hi Linda, You should see the number of pots that I have and everyone comments on them. I was even at a garden centre and my neighbours were there and said, "Are you buying more pots?" I actually tidied up my messy corner (where I just chuck things) and put all the seed trays together and grouped the pots in their sizes. Linda, I was ashamed at how many I've accumulated over the years. I keep telling my family that they don't realise how many pots I use when I'm pricking out seedlings but seeing them stacked up in size order has made me realise that I have a hoarding problem. I'll have to look for a garden centre that can recycle them. Your new path to the greenhouse sounds good and a lot safer. I've got a decking area and I'm going to break my neck on it one of these days. Hope you have a good week and let's hope we get some sunshine. I've been in and out all weekend dodging the rain showers. Take care. xxx

@@wendybartlett6717 Wendy I think we are plant pot/seed tray twins ! haha BUT come the winter/spring time we'll use everything up and be scratching around for anything that will hold a bit of compost for those precious seeds LoL happens every year ! I read a sign somewhere that said There are two types of people in the world those that have 18,000 packets of seeds and those that have zero packets of seeds ! I know which category I'm in haha I bet you'll be glad of those seed trays next year, I've bagged loads up in a bin liner and hung them up in the shed because the shelves in my potting shed are full of seed trays how ridiculous am I ?! xxx

A garden "under siege" - I like that. It may look a bit chaotic but to me it looks like a very pleasant experience of sensory overload, colour and scent crowding in on you from all sides. There is just so much to take in - love it! Are you sure you want to "tidy up" when the builders leave?
@soulgirlktf

@nikkonch haha Nik, maybe I keep the cement mixer ? I could do something arty with roses and clematis spilling out of it ! The first week has gone well. I hope you are enjoying your wonderful garden, the weather today has been quite wet here I'm hoping for better tomorrow.
@nikkonch
@nikkonch 21 күн бұрын
@@soulgirlktf Actually the cement mixer idea sounds interesting - it would make your garden unique - you could be known locally as "the lady with the cement mixer in her garden" or perhaps your blunt northern neighbours would choose some word other than "lady"? I'm not sure I was "enjoying" my garden today Linda. It was quite warm, and I had a lot of plants (flowers to be) grown from seed in the greenhouse and had to start planting them out, some in hard dry clay (no rain here) and some in the softer new bed where I will be planting roses in the autumn. Then I dug over some of the (hard, dry) ground in the greenhouse to plant dwarf beans in there, as I do each year - and each year I am bemused to find stones in that same piece of ground despite having cleared it of stones every previous year - I think the mice must be carrying stones into the greenhouse during the winter - but why? Did Douglas Adams get it right in Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy when he suggested that the mice were actually conducting experiments on human beings? Are they doing this to see how I react?
@soulgirlktf
@soulgirlktf 21 күн бұрын
@@nikkonch Oh you have been busy, hard dry clay and no rain is not an easy job. We gardeners do like a challenge don't we ?! I like your mice idea very much you could be on to something there:) Today is dry weather here so I've had an early start and a catch up with my garden, mostly weeding and deadheading but up close faffing is what I've missed and the garden looks, albeit a total mess, tidier if that make any sense at all haha. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, take care.
