I don't think people understand how important this scene really is. It's not flirting, Dan is just taking advantage of his role in Jackies life (former crush and sisters husband who she sees frequently) to remind her that she deserves someone who is going to treat her like she's all that matters. Sometimes it's the little things that someone special, even if you don't realize how special they are to you, says to you that can make all the difference. I really loved this scene.

It's about what Jackie thinks she worth and what Dan KNOWS she's worth, which is more than what she gets from the guys she dates. When Jackie said Dan was "the perfect guy" she said it in a way that she thought she'd never find/deserve someone like him and that no one would ever do something as simple and important as remember. Dan proved she deserves both.

This really is why this is one of the most, if not THE most amazing show ever written. Because of scenes like this, where it completely abandoned comedy for the sake of heart and delved into the complicated and hidden sides of a relationship that any other show would have ignored or deemed insignificant. And this is incomparable to the current writing of the revived show. You'll never see the thoughtful and insightful conversation like that which was written for this scene and the many many other scenes throughout its run. It's honest, real, lengthy, non-linear. The last scene in which he describes exactly what she wearing as the camera slowly pans into Jackie - devastatingly beautiful.

No! Dan Conner doesn’t have affairs. That was the whole point of Roseanne coming back and saying at the end of Season Nine that she made the whole thing up about Dan cheating with his mom’s nurse because she was trying to deal with the fact that his heart attack actually killed him. It never once occurred to me that these two ever would’ve had an affair because they both adore Roseanne and wouldn’t hurt her for anything. We see them spend most of their time picking at each other that we forget that they probably wouldn’t be able to do that without also sharing a deeply-seated mutual respect. Both characters are so complex, and this scene shows both being vulnerable in ways we don’t often see with each other. It’s funny how neither of them seem surprised by the other in this scene. They both reach across to the other very sweetly and very naturally.

It's a neat scene. A "What If?" moment. At various moments it's uncomfortable . . You know or at least suspect that the beer drinking is going to lead to something tragic. Roseanne saves the day and calls, Jackie leaves and Dan tells Roseanne he missed her. It's a scene, I believe, speaks for a lot of us. We're all human. I fell deep for a woman and she wasn't my wife. We never did anything but there were a couple of moments when things could've went the wrong way. I was, or we were "rescued" however . . Coincidences . . Unanswered "What If?" moments. Questions better left unanswered forever.

And then the 90s came, Roseanne won in the lottery and made guest appearances at Jerry Springer and does a Rambo-parody on a train. Sometimes it´s better to stop series before it gets too late. Take a series like "Fawlty Towers". There are only 12 episodes, but they are all good, and because they stopped early they don´t go away from the roots.

Perfect 90s dad would be a mix of Dan Connor Carl Winslow Tim Taylor And Al Bundy
