The governor and top Illinois state lawmakers might not support the Bears’ proposal to use taxpayer funding for a new lakefront stadium, but one suburban mayor with a lot of political pull says he’s all for it. Rosemont Mayor Brad Stephens, an Illinois state representative who’s also Assistant Republican Leader in the Illinois House, called the Bears’ stadium plan “spectacular” and believes investing in teams like the Bears and White Sox is good for the city and state.

Of course he wants the new stadium built in Chicago by the lake. If the Bears built a new stadium in Arlington Heights it very well could seriously deminish the Rosemont Horizon/Allstate Arena which is 15-20 minutes away.

They should just make there stadium and stop haggling for every last dollar. Stay in Chicago or move to Arlington the more they holdout for a better deal the more they lose momentum and excitement over this. And I know they are pinning a lot of hope on their new QB for a renewed optimism for the franchise, and they better hope that optimism pan out, because it this city is all about rosy expectations, without the reality not fully developing.

Why are you interviewing the mayor of Rosemont???? If the bears team can generate huge revenue from betting/gambling formats and other venues, they can pay for their own stadium. THE BEARS' FRANCHISE HAS THE MONEY. THEY DON'T WANT TO SPEND THEIR MONEY. WELL, due to the immigrant invasion, Chicago couldn't afford to rebuild a stadium before they arrived, so the answer is still NO! Use the stadium we already have. I need a new desktop computer. Can't afford a new computer. I go to the library and use the computers my tax $ provides. No new stadium! No waste ofbtaxc$. Ask Biden to direct funds from Ukraine to the Bears for a new stadium, then we can talk.

The only way for the Whitesox to ever compete with the Cubs in ANYWAY is if they build this new stadium in connection with the Chicago Bears. Hell at one point the Bears played on Wrigley Feild grounds, and now the Whitesox are going to have to tie themselves deeper into Chicago Sports scene, because right now they ain’t. They and Jerry Riensdorf have just about worn out there welcome, and only this far flung cannon ball run tie in can try to save their legitimacy.

Imagine being too poor to afford going to a Bears game (or any other team) but being forced to pay for a new stadium so the billionaire who owns the team can charge even more for tickets and make more money. How does a new stadium benefit the people forced to pay for it? By allowing them to have to pay more just to go to the stadium? Why can’t the billionaire owner or their millionaire coaches and players pay for it? It’s when sh!t like this happens that makes me glad that my state doesn’t have a professional sports team.
