Hello! I came across with your channel today, the first one KZfaq suggested to watch. It was a delight to watch all the tree roses in pots neatly arranged in your cute garden. You‘ve got a lot of excellent German roses, some are in my garden in different names. Dornburger Schlossrose is a winner, I‘ll buy her this year. Thanks for sharing your lovely rose collection!🌹

Hi, I just ordered 2 of the pale 'Tropicana' a couple of days ago after hearing your comments on its fragrance in the above video (8:57). Just to let your viewers be aware. This is the pale creamy apricot coloured 'Tropicana' (breeder's code TAN12690) with the strong passionfruit fragrance not the other much older deep orange/coral 'Tropicana' AKA 'Super Star' (breeder's code TANorstar) which has a moderate fragrance. Cheers! 😄Now going to check out the video from a fortnight ago on your new Rawlins purchases!

I just watched your video on the Rawlins' roses you got from 'The Fragrant Rose Company'/Styles. Sorry to hear they would not replace the 2 bare root plants that had only 2 stems. A bit mean of them I thought. It might be to do with that particular variety's growth habit. However, the stems would branch out further up and even make more 'basal breaks' from above the graft union later on but I agree that from such reputable suppliers we expect at least 3 juicy green stems! I see you managed to get a good potted one instead. How are these new Rawlins' roses doing - have you put them all in full size tubs yet?

Greetings! Where to buy the dark violet 'Deep Secret' Tantau 2023 in the UK ? It looks like the 'perfect' purple rose (and is said to be even more fragrant than the old dark red 'Deep Secret' from Tantau 1977 (into UK). It's a pity they didn't give the new 2023 one a different name to distinguish the two. Perhaps we should keep the old name 'Mildred Scheel' for the 1977 one and 'Deep Secret' for this amazing new 2023 beauty. Could it be better than Austin's reliable and beautifully fragranced 'Munstead Wood' or Tantau's 'Pure Poetry/J.W.v. Goethe' (the Goethe didn't fully open its flowers for me in 2023 ) ? I love all your videos with your honest opinions and observations based on personal growing experience and great videography too! I encourage you to keep making them. This sort of information is priceless for those looking to choose a new rose and much more enjoyable than relying on plant labels - whilst of course taking one's local climate into consideration. 🏵🏵🏵❤!

Whenever I experience to introduce the new Deep Secret I always have to mention that she is completely different and nothing similar to the previous one. I'm also wishing you a very 'Happy New Year!' and fun growing in 2024! Activities such as gardening are good for the soul. I just wan't to talk a little here about some orange hybrid tea roses.... I might be going to buy the 2018 (passion fruit fragranced) 'Tropicana' rose (seen at 8:57 in the above video) and not to confuse with the older 1961 vermillion 'Tropicana' AKA 'Super Star' the name which I believe was a nod to Brigitte Bardot and also by Tantau. There's also another rose named 'Brigitte Bardot' by Orard 1994, which has red/white stripes - so Brigitte is among the few to be honoured with 2 different roses! In the above video you described your 2018 'Tropicana' as "tender" did you mean the delicate colour and form of the flower or possibly the low cold & heat tolerance of the plant? Thanks. The other vermillion coloured 1961 'Tropicana'/'Super Star' if anyone wants to know, is visually very good but only has a light, fresh and vaguely raspberry smell for me which doesn't really waft around the garden as well as 'Fragrant Cloud' for example. Now 'Summer Holiday' was bred by Charles Walter Gregory from the 1961 'Tropicana''/Super Star' and introduced to the UK by Harry Wheatcroft in 1969. I can report that 'S.Holiday' has a completely solid, deep orange/scarlet colour (not even the hint of pink seen in 'Super Star') and 'S.Holiday' was a visual feast for me in its first year of planting with sometimes a slightly stronger fragrance than 'Super Star'. It also flowers more freely and almost continuously. Her first year flower stems were a bit thin and floppy after rain but not brittle! She looked great next to my glowing bright orange 'Halle' rose by Fryer which itself has an appealing (and slightly tangy/mango) scent. This year I'm hoping for more vigour, stronger thicker stems and a little more fragrance from 'Summer Holiday'. 'Capri' from your "Review Rose Capri (Tantau, 2014)'" video looks excellent - lovely rich orange/pink colours & that sweet honey fragrance you talked about! Definitely one for a particular place in the garden, as you said not in the direct sun and performs better late in the season. I think the same applies to many roses - they seem to enjoy full morning sun and a bit of shade from harsh midday sun. The blooms of my 'Lady Emma Hamilton' shrub were 'bleached' and dried by the sun last year and I didn't notice her usual fragrance. I want to dig her up and move her out of the afternoon sun if she suffers this year. I'm also trying out 'Troika' and 'Duke of Windsor' as orange roses that have some fragrance. An advantage of growing roses in containers is that one can always move them to a shady or sheltered spot if they need rescuing or even indoors if the wind gets extremely strong and of course if you are moving house you can take all of them all with you any time of the year without disturbing the roots! If anyone knows of other rich deep carrot/tangerine orange coloured roses that are both reliable and also heavily fragrant then please reply! 😃@@Mycuterosegardenandthedogp

I think roses are so beautiful and never understood why people keep them in pots. Is it to hinder it's growth? I'm getting into roses and just bought some climbing roses and can't wait to plant them next year.

I thought about purchasing Sophie Luoise 'cause it is so beautiful but I could not find any info from private gardner /rose fans so I am not sure whether it behaves well in the sun and if it gives off a pleasant scent an so on..

The smell is beautiful!!! She is amazing rose with wonderful colour. Very generous with blooms. I would recommend to plant in partly shade area. She is not too great under direct sunlight. She is doing good under sun but I would prefer to put her under partial shade. Probably 6 hours sunlight is enough for her. I will do more videos about her next year because it is her first year in my garden. You need to give kind of 3 years at least for a rose to perform fully. Thanks for watching my videos ❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹😁

That Deep Secret Rose is so beautiful, can I ask where in the UK did you get it? I search for it and only get the other red rose:( thanks for any help you can give.

Hi 👋 Unfortunately not in the UK, but if you make an order from Tantau on their website for overall £200 they can deliver to the UK. There is extra charge on top for plant certificate. Hi Nancy I would recommend Copper Lights definitely with no thorns, also with other wonderful characteristics such as colour, size of the flower, upright growth, health and availability in the UK. I am not sure where you are based but some roses unfortunately quite difficult to find in the UK. For example, Herz Ass. Also thornless, beautiful rose but not available in the UK. If i compare Copper Lights with Herz Ass I would fo for Copper Lights 🌹❤️
