@@Spetsnaztyyou might have a point there about force being subjective, but this is still just a completely unacceptable hit. Does it not remind you of what happened to Makar literally last week? If you hit a player before they reach the boards at high speed, they don't have an opportunity to slow down and reduce their momentum. At the same time it increases the chances that their neck, limbs and back get caught in awkward positions and injured. This has no place in the game. You can make big hits against the boards when players can brace but not while they're already flying at the boards with no way to stop themselves.

Exactly. Why is Hughes not expecting the shoulder hit from Colton? 99 out of 100 times a player in Hughes' position should be expecting contact there. Hughes knows exactly where Colton is and yet he turns away from him, dangerously toward the boards, instead of bracing for the obvious impending shoulder check. @@g00se88

Hughes didn’t want to get pinched, he pointed his skates to the right. The combo of catching an edge and being hit, made it worse than it needed to be. No penalty!

As a coach I'd double any suspension the league gives him for that cross check.

Perfect call. These players are crosschecking way to high these days. Gotta bring em down boys. Those composite sticks are lethal compared to an old dried out Sherwood.

@@jayjopam8505 i agree on graves but severson? He’s been benched on columbus and was average at best with the devils. He wanted 6 mil and no way where the devils giving him that. The whole team is lacking defensively because they all think about scoring which leads to too many odd man rushes
@jayjopam85058 ай бұрын
@@g00se88 he had to walk at $6 mil, but I suspect he would have stayed for less (as much of the core has) ... And you are right, as a top D guy, he is out of his depth, but he murdered as a third pairing guy. Last year's top 6 was really the secret sauce in my opinion. They all played to their Identity and fit together perfectly like puzzle pieces. In the short term, I also believe losing Nico is way more difficult to overcome than many believe... He sets the D mindset. Hughes gets the highlights, but Nico is really the key to winning imo

What do you want hughes to do in a situation like that. Not face the puck?
@richardprescott59398 ай бұрын
He didn't turn his back. He was skating towards the puck. He should have turned into the opposing player on a reverse hit to protect himself. He didn't get hit in the center of his numbers. The left of his back did so it was a board, just not a major penalty. Every once in a while the officials get it right.

Hughes softened up and was asking to be boarded. You have to always be aware to be smacked to hell. That call was kinda weak.
