If you are italian, it doesnt matter where you are born, you are italian through and through. It doesnt change who you are or your background. Also, a player wants to play for the national team he feels close to. Giuseppe Rossi is a first generation american boy here, so its understandable to feel more connected to italian culture and life and the people, than american, like i do. someone like Michael Bradly, who is prolly like 10th generation american, probably feels closer. So give him a break

I understand him, Football is a very small sport in the USA and the US national team is quite mediocre, football is very big in Italy and they have a good team so i understand that he wants to play for Italy were football is important instead of for america.

He should be able to pick the country he plays for, provided he is eligible. Hes under no obligation to play for the USA just because he happened to be born there, so Americans who won't shut up about his lack of patriotism can fucking do one.

Hey people! @Dcontrerasm is totally right! I go for Mexico because I choose to root for them. My entire family is Mexican. my mom crossed the border. My dad is a tex-mex. my gpas and gmas are from over there. I will still choose U.S.A if I were even given the option to choose from both countries. Born in raised in the USA.

@ForzaAquila I understand your point but disagree that it should be based on blood line. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but Balotelli should play for Ghana because his birth parents are from there? But lets be honest, if one player upholds the value of the country he lives in and was raised in he should be allow to play for that country. If I had to choose between Puerto Rico, USA and Dominican Republic, I'd choose USA because I belong to this culture, and I was born here.
@ForzaAquila13 жыл бұрын
@dcontrerasm that's my point. birthplace doesn't matter. what matters is the blood. according to franchiz it's the birthplace. balotelli born in italy, rossi born in the us. i'm trying to prove to him that my point is not biased so i say rossi should play for italy because he has italian blood, imo balotelli should play for ghana because that's the blood that runs through him.

@chromepro1 where did you hear that? So people from Rome, Milan, Florence etc..(I'd like to know what do you mean with etc) are "real" italians and sicilians are not italians? Sicilian is a different language? Yes like every other dialect in Italy. I ask about this because I'm sicilian but I live in Rome and all you say sounds a little bit "strange".

He made the right choice playing for Italy if he can actually get selected to tournaments... Which he can't, not right now anyway. I'll tell you this, though, I bet he wishes he was in the knockout stage of the World Cup with the Americans right now.

@franchiz707 uh dude i'm not biased but you are. and i'll prove it to you. what do i think? i think that players with italian BLOOD and heritage should play for italy. does that mean rossi is rightfully italian? YES. does that mean balotelli can play with italy imo? NO. what about amauri? NO. rossi has italian parents, italian culture and was only born in the US. i was born in cuba does that make me cuban? NO. you can say what u want but he's not a traitor that's for sure.

Ok. 1. Most Americans (or anyone else) whose parents grew up overseas speak a language other than English in the home. After the next generation they tend not to because people usually end up marrying someone who doesn't speak the other language. 2. His GRANDparents moved to the US 45 effin' years ago. His father registered for the draft during the Vietnam War! 3. Instead of playing for his country he decided to play for a country where his nearest relatives are his long deceased great-grandpar

It's a shame Rossi didn't cap for the US because its true. You should play for the country you were born and partially raised as long as you were born in it. He simply chose Italy because his father knew US wasn't very good and common with the sport so he wanted his son to be with bandwagon Italy. It's for reasons like this the US isn't good. Our country is so diverse. We would be one of the best if players with this much potential and caliber would stay and not go by bloodline or roots.

To those claiming the US national was not good enough... FYI, in both 2010 and 2014 world cups, US made it to the round of 16 and got very close to quarters both times.. Meanwhile, Italy couldnt get past group stage.. get over yourselves Italians... You are not what you used to be in football, you Serie A is becoming worse and worse every year and you don't produce any good strikers anymore... Btw his accent gets me dizzy
@arvind68218 жыл бұрын
+sycho67ak Manolo Gabbiadini shits all over USA's strikers put together. "Doesn't produce good strikers anymore": Dybala, Gabbiadini, Zaza, Icardi, Vazquez Eder etc. disprove your argument. In fact if Serie A teams do as well as they did in Europa last year, Italy will overtake England to once again be the 3rd best league in Europe/The World. You clearly watch 0 football.
@sycho67ak8 жыл бұрын
+Arvindo lmao here's a comedian.. first of I didnt say American strikers were good I said their NT did better than Italy in the last 2 world cups which is sad for Italy cause American strikers are indeed shit.. second of all, most of the strikers you mentioned are complete garbage.. and Icardi, Dybala, Vasquez are from Argentina, Eder from Brazil.. just Eder and Vasquez are too shitty to play for their own countries so they resorted to play for Italy, knowing they havent got shit up front.. zaza warms the bench for Juve and who the fuck is Gabbiadini lmao.. I looked him up and he has like 2 goals this year in 10 games.. are you being serious ?.. so yea keep doing well in the europa league I'm sure people are watching and caring.. Uruguay is a country of 3.4M people and yet makes better strikers and team than Italy lmao..

sycho67ak Nope, fuck america. And where are you from? I'd love to insult your country too, I'm sure it's like the Balkans or something and you're the only one with a computer. And the Dutch football isn't dead, go see the Eredivisie it has more potential than the MLS.
