This is a screen capture of a Transas simulation. The vessel is making the 1500 ft Constant Radius Turn at an initial SOG of 10 kts. The objective here is to illustrate the different ROTs required at different times during the turn. The speed is reduced due to the scrubbing effect of the turn and the loss of the push from the current and eventually heading into the current.
