Good morning, I wanted to jump in here to say a few things regarding the Technics GX70, which some of you have asked about. We no longer have the GX70 in our possession and are not able to compare it directly to the Rotel. All that said, the Technics is a very good and capable all-inclusive amp and one I would consider alongside the Rotel IF (and this is important) I didn't need the Rotel's extra power for difficult to drive speakers or larger rooms. Additionally, if you don't like the idea of converting your analog signals to digital, this includes your turntable; I would advise against the Technics as it converts ALL incoming signals to the same digital format. That said, the Technics is a better value (excluding power output) directly compared to the Rotel. I hope this helps clear up any questions and/or confusion surrounding why the Technics was not mentioned here.

I’ve said it many times and I’ll say it again: Rotel could be an absolute market killer if all they did was listen and pay attention. Being in that whole limbo of trying to stick to old school techniques is just not gonna work anymore. Make the RA-1592 Mk3 with HDMI, this same screen and streaming options. Make the price $3500 and you’ve got an absolute killer of a super integrated unit right there. Do the same with the smaller amps and you’ve got a truly competitive lineup. This is a first step in the right direction, but still I would need more in order to justify a purchase of this. Still, I hope they learn from this and move ahead with time more. Great review, conversation and the room is coming along beautifully. Couldn’t wait any longer to see the final result! Hope y’all are having an awesome day!

Great review! I bought the RA-1592mk2 in part from your review at the time. Good to see that I still have a great choice for the money with my Bluesound Node. Please when you get a chance test the Rotel Michi X5 Series 2! The Michis have moved on to the Series 2 since the X3 test, and it might be worth checking out what the top of the line Rotel integrated sounds like. It probably should be a significant upgrade from what was heard so far on this channel from Rotel, maybe!

As much as I like the idea of having everything in one device, I fear the aging process. In particular, devices with a display no longer look up to date after 5 years or so and no longer receive updates. I prefer to buy a good classic stereo amplifier and then go with a separate streamer and dac, which I usually hide on the shelf somewhere. I can replace it when the time comes. This means that I never have the pressure of always wanting to have the new and best thing for a lot of money and I become dissatisfied when a new model of my device is released.

Good morning Andrew and Kristi. Great review. As a Rotel owner I think they’re a brand that has consistently produced good sounding products. I do agree that in this segment of the market that the 5000 is aimed at, omitting things like a built-in phonostage is a serious detriment to its broader market appeal. Majority of people that would be shopping in this segment want the all-in-one solution, not looking to add additional boxes. Keep up the great work.

The ending was epic! So much truth in those 9 min. That's why I watch Robinson, it's because it's honest and mindful of the art behind the work done by these engineers. I tried to get into the audiophile community once but seeing the snobbery and self righteousness hovering above these mid tier audiophile youtubers is kinda ridiculous, they are all just guessing or just echo chambering. I once had one of these guys in my studio (Music producer since 1996) while we created a full album, from start to finish, for about 3 months and he couldn't believe the long hours and hard work behind it, even said: I got more respect now for how these records are created, then I said, exactly the same amount of work goes behind all these compressors, Eqs and pre-amps bother., be mindful of that! I still see him rambling online about how poor the new whatever this is and that is but still, I know, that day he understood that there are people behind the products, these have feelings and take their jobs very seriously. Jumping on the hate wagon doesn't help anyone especially in this economy, if you don't like something, don't buy it, that simple. Vote with your wallet, the online echo chambering is just insignificant, why even bother? Trust your ears and nothing will go badly and Andrew is right, nobody has to like the products but you, that goes twice for when it comes to records and mixes and mastering. Amazing review as usual Andrew and Kristi! It's an honor to watch these reviews, nothing on KZfaq even comes near the level of quality you create and I'm not even in the market for a new amp!!!😂😂😂 Nevertheless, Looking forward to the next one!

Good afternoon! I respect conversation regarding the lack of features vs a quality product that is great on its own. My primary setup didn't have room correction, but the quality and sound is amazing. And I was able to add that later. All good! Also, glad you've found some good content to watch 😊

In the year 2024 all integrated need to have 2.1 or 2.2 bass management simply because a subwoofer improves the sound by several magnitudes and I don't like running my mains full range when a sub is attached. It improves the mains response quite a bit when a HPF is applied. And while I am complaining for $3000, I would expect to have Dirac Live 😛

Definitely agree. It is a lot easier (with less degradation of sound quality) to cut off low frequency output to the main speakers at 100 Hz or so at line level, then it is at speaker level. So I don't understand why manufacturers don't offer this in all pre-amps or integrated amps.

_Great_ review, as always, guys. Streaming tech changes so rapidly I don't really _want_ that particular feature in an amp though...just want the highest quality amp possible with actual tactile KNOBS to turn...lol. Menu diving for small EQ adjustments are a deal-breaker for me with anything. 👍

Criticism in any hobby is gettting harsher and as the T shirt in the 90s stated..... "Mean People Suck" Thank you for mentioning Magnepans. As a Maggie owner, I do try to find out which amps are 2 ohm stable. We're our own little group working outside the box, and it doesn't make sense for every reviewer to include a Maggie synergy segment. Yet, it was nice to hear.

I think what Rotel lacks and not just Rotel is that old school "Loudness!" Button. That button did wonders in average listening levels. It improved the bass, Midrange and Treble at lower volumes such as 60/70 db.

I’ve read specs on countless receivers, and integrated amps. I’ve never once seen any boost in the midrange. It’s usually either bass and treble, or just bass. Sure that may help the mid, but it’s not actually boosting it at all. And while yes they were often at different frequencies than the treble and bass controls provided. They were usually close, and not boosted a lot. So what I’m saying is that by boosting the bass, and/or treble. Which this amp has. Then you’re getting almost the exact same effect. Loudness is just a simple Fletcher Munson compensation. Which can also be accomplished in other ways. That being said. It would be nice to see it return. And I would also like to see midrange controls too, like on many old Marantz receivers. But in the meantime. Just crank up the bass, and/or treble at low volume. And enjoy the music. 😉 😁✌️

With any comment i make, i always try and be positive. If theres a product im not interested in, its still worth a view. Theres no need for me to freak out that someone dared to make gear im indifferent towards. And personally, i cant get mad streaming is the norm vs physical media. Thats the way things went. Always loved Rotel gear. One of my favorite and best sounding amps I ever owned was a small Rotel from the late 80s. This sounds like it would be great in a small all digital system. Another well done review! 👍

Its $4,000 AUD its a lot for for an amp that lacks bass control and the non standard USB connection for pc, its the old-school printer style USB.

@@MaZEEZaM It's called USB Type B, there is nothing "old school" about it! The differing form of USB-A and USB-B helps to enforce the mono-directional aspect of these iterations of USB. Most of the network streamers shipped with USB connectors that has both Type A and Type B. I am using Rotel 1592mkII with an EverSolo DMP6 Master Edition.

Well needed commentary at the end of the broadcast (the meanness that exist in our hobby today). The entire subectivist vs objectivist arguement (you can be both). The destroying of brands as you've mentioned...the world is a meaner place, and i pray for my grands because they're kind, don't want them to take on the rudeness that exist as the new norm. 😢

Even going back to the late seventies Rotel have always been a quality manufacturer in my opinion. Although I’m more drawn to their simplistic designs (A11 styling and functionality) I appreciate the market has changed and customers are expecting more options to align with their chosen path. I personally would go with a straight forward amp and a separate streamer with the bells and whistles and should we see additional streaming technology appear then that can be changed at a later date once the tech has become proven stability (hopefully)!. Man Rotel used to be the hidden gem in the audio world 10 years ago I used to be able to pick up their aunts for dirt cheap I wish I never mentioned it to anyone 😂 I had the RB 1080 and 972 receiver which was rated at 80 watts a Channel all channels driven like all the aps and receivers are rated wish i never had to get rid of them 😞

Nobody does a better more thorough review than you do. And yea, it’s impossible to keep up with technology and the $$$$$. You handle it well. As a personal side note…I focus more on being “satisfied “ with my sound…and that is an enormous philosophical adjustment.

Did you manage to run a HT Bypass - for people who have already invested into a home theatre but also have a seperate Amp setup for Front Towers , how does this amp work??? i was really looking forward to this Rotel - as opposed to Hegel 190 but if there is no HT bypass for the price - is not worth it

Works flawlessly in combo with Denon AVR for 5.1.4 and for dedicated 2 channel. They would do well to keep such features in current lineups

If it's similar to the 1592 that's a big win. I wish rotel would come out with a more stylish box, and i agree that the features are kinda lacking, but I don't see that as a huge negative. The texas instruments graphing calculator looks are in need of an update, but keep that rotel sound.

26:01 another great review in the bag.. I'd say the hardest thing about being in the KZfaq space is really two things that you both mentioned. The constant hate for certain thing, product, or brand & the simple fact is that everybody feels that their opinion is always right and yours is always wrong. Instead of just looking at what everybody else thinks, compiling that and actually putting together your own analysis. Unfortunately people love drama and controversy because they are behind a keyboard. But in real life, 90% of these people are really not like that. They would rather not have any controversy and I wish that people could see it like that and just take it for what it's worth. 🤷🏽♂️ I'm done here

Yeah, I feel like annoymity has brought out the worst in a large group of people and that's unfortunate. Back when I used to go to trade shows, I would run into readers (this was pre-KZfaq), and we'd get to talking, and sure enough, after a few minutes, a lot of people would comment to the effect of, "hey, you're not so bad" or "I thought I was going to hate you based on your reviews." It always made me laugh in the moment, but I suppose it just shows what's possible when you deal with folks face-to-face.

Would you really want to go blow for blow just because a person's opinion isn't yours? Perhaps maybe in my teen years. Of course you know somebody said the wrong thing a scuffle would start but being in my 40s I just don't see the reason to fight or judge another person by their opinion. Hey, if you like Hisense or TCL or whatever your brand may be. Even though I've had bad experiences with both brands, that doesn't mean I'm going to judge you on buying one. The second I put on Instagram that I bought a Sony TV the x90L just because it works for my situation. At the current time all I got was a whole bunch of hate 😂 and I'll be honest, I'm extremely happy with my purchase. But at the end of the day like you always say the only person who has to like the sound of their system or their TV picture for that matter is you.
