Is this real/is this going to be added to production
Yes, this is the real deal! However, what is shown in the video will likely not be the final product and it will go through appropriate balancing adjustments as well as receive additional art.
When will realm rework be released?
It is not my place to give details about when this update will be coming out. Deca will provide more information when the time comes.
Did you make this/How did you get permission to help work on the realm rework?
I designed the bosses as well as their sprites! Early last year, I approached the Deca designers about helping out on the realm rework project and thanks to my design experience they allowed me to implement new encounters and setpieces for the biomes.
Will these bosses drop any dungeons?
They will likely drop dungeons, but not new ones. The exact details are up to Deca to decide.

Is there a mechanic for realm encounters to stop normal.mobs from spawning near event bosses? It seems strange that all those realm bosses didn't have a thousand gods around them

I placed the bosses in their own separate maps for the sake of the video, which is why you don't see other enemies. I'm actually not sure what Deca's plans will be for dealing with drags...

i LOVE the work u have been putting on and how it is coming so long, reading the description i saw u are taking some suggest and i would like to share what i think, these are not aiming to correct but to maybe give a little feedback and little bit of ideas to play with, from a realm player, thanks for reading until here and i will list the suggest right below :) - Eye of the Storm + I really love the way u made the white circles rotate while changing pattern to its opposite but maintaining direction, in that same phase, maybe its a sprite issue only but i kinda feel the red stars killing the vibe of a "wind storm" thing, with that i think it would look so good to add some dust/dirt floating from some of the biggest shots like the thunders on the next phase. + At the tornados/twisters phase ( 0:56 ) i think it has been so used the way u need to kill the 6 tornados to keep dealing dmg that it feels just annoying, i dont think it should not be there, but maybe play a bit more with the mechanics and make something like, the armor of the boss will be increasing and maybe even healing while the number of tornados up are high, kinda like the towers in o3, making it able to skip killing ALL the tornados but taking some advantage of breaking em so it doesnt feel like u are just waiting to that tornado to die while dpsing from far away, just like the annoying eggs from biff the bunny. + Lastly i feel kind of out of character the drop of a pirate cannon from an storm spirit, like it doesnt make too much sense, i know that maybe it will change anyways by the way u made the Aereal Warship drop the Knowledge Rune that makes complete sense with the lore of an advanced technology Ship. - Daughter of Limon + This one is just precious, i love the whole first phase and the grid thing u made with the rays, at the next phases is where i would add something just becouse it feels kinda empty, i think something that make all the Sprite Forest are the moving tiles, i think it would be very suitable to play a bit with em, maybe adding a phase where 1 of the 4 rectangles of tiles at the center would blink and make every tile the same, forcing u to try to get to the opposite side to keep dealing dps, kind of like one of the final phases from kogbold boss, but with moving tiles instead of just slow. + Aside from that everything is just perfect, the sprites, the little stars, the rotations, the drags, and the drop is just beautiful. - Carp Emperor + not too much to say, it looks just awesome, only thing i would maybe suggest is to play a bit with waves since it is at the water and without playing with it, it just feels like a blue colored square more than a pond or anything. - Aerial Warship + I just love this one, it feels perfect for end game and gives a new air of something new to the realm fights. + Only thing i would add up would be some danger marks for the first phase ( 6:00 ) bombs to make a little more visible the pattern from em, and with that, make the trees of the biome break with the explosions, bombs and barrels. - Corrupted Bramblethorn + I love the vibes from this one, but i might change some things a little bit, from the start i think it would look awesome to have the biome a little bit greenier and make it get more dead by the end of the fight, making the boss taking the "life energy" from its ambient and transform it into magic like the blue flails at the rotation phase ( 7:40 ). + Talking about the rotation phase, since it is more at the start than the end, i would save the blue magical sprites for later and make em some more nature looking, like a rose stem that could leave some spikes even and make it brighter, add it light or magic sprites later on the end. + Just to add i LOVE the drop from this boss, its so suiting to its ambient and lore. - Commander Calbrik + I dont have much to add here couse it looks like u will make a lot of work on that still, from sprites to ambient to drops, but i love the way its going so long till now. Thats all i may say for now, i hope u take em as suggest and maybe take some in consideration, i repeat, these are only suggest, not correction nor anything else, i love ur work and would love to see it in the future too. big love to everyone who is reading till here ♥

Thanks for the feedback! I really like some of the ideas, especially the visual suggestions. As for the UT drops, the new biome UTs respectively drop from every enemy within their biome (including the bosses) meaning they won't always fit thematically. The bosses however have a much higher chance of the UT which is why I included them in the video. Also you can still damage Eye of the Storm even when the tornadoes are up! On a maxed character the damage from the tornadoes are mostly ignorable, but since I was playing unmaxed for that portion of the video I chose to step outside of their orbit.

My only problem with end-game event bosses is that no one is going to fight them for a defense potion if they're as hard as that.

Ideally, the more difficult bosses would drop unique loot and they can also be used as access for future dungeons. But this will be up to Deca to decide.

another thing is harder in-realm events = harder heroes of Oryx = the baseline for entering O1 and as such new player dependency on vets goes up i feel like Advanced / Elder realms could fix that tho

@@edenengland1883 In the new realms, realms are closed through a points system where both normal enemies and quest enemies can contribute. Hopefully this means even a realm of only new players will be able to easily go to Oryx Castle regardless of what they do.

Are the two different types of fishing rods be ubiquitous or are they going to be stored/act as separate items? Would be cool if one rod could be used for different fishing minigames.

Unfortunately, they are two entirely separate fishing rod items as MV uses a ring as a fishing rod whilst the realm has a consumable as a fishing rod.

with the open beta right around the corner, do you know if Event Boss Tag-teams where they spawn in the exact same location will still be a part of the new realms? i personally enjoy the idea of fighting 2 event bosses at the same time, but with how theyre handled in the current realms they arent balanced properly enough for players to survive them (although thankfully based on your other replies beating tagteams wont be mandatory even if they do return)

They plan on changing how boss spawning work so that you can't get stacked spawns anymore. I'm not sure if it will be functional in the open beta though.

Great to see new things being added (especially dungeons + bosses).. but these fights all look the same to me. There's a boss slowly moving around the center of the room and/or chasing while shooting a volley of slow shots you have to dodge. It's like Janus and MV had babies. These might still be in beta phase so I may be speaking too soon though idk I haven't been watching much on the rework. These fights give off more of a Darza feel rather than RotMG. The design and way the fights work just look "unofficial" in a way. Not talking about the aesthetics. Maybe it's just me but I don't really get a "new" feel from these compared to the boss fights in like Sulf, Kog, MV, etc. The more recent new dungeons have an identity(?) that works but I'm not getting that from these dungeons. The fishing thing was alright though. I also think that these bosses having so little variation but high HP will cut their replayability by over half. Like I said though, I'm not really up to date on what's going on with the realm rework so how these are implemented into the game could also change a lot. Anyway, thanks for working on the game. We definitely need people striving to make the game better and more accessible to newer players as well as the current realm population

Thanks for the feedback, just to be clear these are event bosses not dungeon bosses. Event bosses are typically designed in a completely different way than dungeon bosses due to being placed within the realm. Because the realm is massive and event bosses typically don't have an arena which restricts players within a space, most of them tend to have projectiles in every direction so that players are engaged at every angle (eg. avatar, ghost ship, beer god, etc). Slower projectiles were purposely used to help mid level players learn how to properly dodge, to prepare them for harder content where there would otherwise be a sudden increase in bullet pattern difficulty compared to midgame.

Deca decided not to include him in the initial beta release and there's no ETA for when he will come, but I'm hoping he will be added in at the same time they make aliens available in the new realms

These seem kinda anti-melee. Will they have any safe phases for melees with tiered swords to do damage?

I think melees will actually find the bosses manageable due to their high DEF and HP (except for Calbrik, none of the bosses deal excessive damage). Once you get used to the bullet patterns of the bosses, they are quite approachable because of the slower bullet speeds and you can see in the video I tried to stay close to the bosses to show that they aren't undodgeable.

People might flag me as doomsposter for this but eh, fk it I really don't like the whole direction of even early-midgame things being this bullet hell heavy. I understand the game has always been "Just dodge", but such a drastic change in difficulty for realm feels a bit.. over the top? Might turn lower skill players like me off if it feels like I keep losing characters over and over all suddenly because of the rework. That being said, the freaking sprites and attack patterns look SO cool and thematic. Part of me is scared of the rework, the other is giddy and excited over this

Hey, thanks for the comment! The midgame bosses are indeed more bullet hell than in the past, but hopefully the bullets being lower damage and slower compared to older bosses will help make up for that by making it more easy to react and avoid. Keep in mind that these are realms bosses, so you can always nexus when in danger and return to fight them if need be!

I think the skill gap between dungeons like void and o3 make the transition from late game to end game very hard. When it comes to early and mid game, most boss fights are super messy and dont teach you to recognize patterns and learn proper dodging. Gameplay like this makes progression much more linear which is essential to keep players around. It may seem like a lot but this is the best way to get players into the game and to get them good at the game without stagnating in skill. An update like this will save realm and grow the playerbase. I understand your concerns but trust me there will be early game bosses that properly teach dodging and moving with patterns.

All the projectile sprites are meant to be placeholders and it will be up to Deca to change them

A lot of these phases seem extremely unfun to play melee on specially with tiered swords, particularly the ones where the bosses stand still and just vomit bullets everywhere (a lot of which seeem to be high damage armor piercing). Hopeing changes can be made to account for them.

Seems like the new Deca approach is to remove, rework and destroy anything that might remind of old RotMG and make an entirely new game in place of it. It might be a good new game that a lot of people will like. It doesn't look or feel anything like Realm Of The Mad God I used to know.

@@mizumi-That's good to hear. Will the old version of realms be always available or is it only temporary like with Flash client after Exalt beta? What about all the other content that was deleted from the game for no reason, like the old Abyss/UDL/Snake Pit/Sprite world etc? The new versions of those dungeons look good and are fun to play but they are essentially just the new content at this point and don't have anything to do with their old variants except for the names and themes. I don't understand why the old versions had to be deleted at all instead of just adding these new dungeons as .... well, new/harder/alternative/whatever versions of them.

@@FatalbuIIet The new realms will still have everything the old realms have but just vastly expanded, so you will still get to farm the old content for their loot

@@loveeens I think their current plan is to make the old realms permanently accessible, as for the reconstructed dungeons the original versions those won't be coming back because they fully replaced the assets for them and the new versions were viewed positively by majority of players
