Those are really nice. Great video. I've had a Buck 110 for years. It's a fantastic all around knife and very sturdy.

I have both of those, plus several more. Get another in white smooth bone and torch it with a small butane torch. You can get really creative and the results are stunning

Great knives. I have the white bone one & they are nice. Thinner in the handle & less weight than a Buck 110, besides costing a lot less.

Ignored these two for too long, glad I picked them up. I'm pretty happy with both. Thank you William.

Those were some decent looking knives. Didn't know they existed. Might have to check one out after I get my Buck 110. I have gifted 1 but never kept one for me. Think I need to remedy that before getting the Rough Ryder large lockbacks. Might be interesting to see them together in person LOL. Thanks for showing them.

Great review. Reminds me of a cross between a Buck 110 in appearance and a Buck 500 series slim lockback. Will be picking one up soon

These are knives that I have seen but not picked up but that may change! I really like the clip point but I have focused more on pocket droppers more than belt carry knives, although as a back pocket carry it may work. Nice review!

Yep, not a type I'd carry frequently day to day, but if I was going hunting it'd be with me. We've got small lockbacks to love for EDC though don't we. Thanks RJ.

Great review. I was not aware of these. I have a Buck 112 and a USA made Shrade LB5 that is awesome but I don’t carry unless I’m in the woods, too heavy for the pocket and I don’t belt carry in an urban environment. I may grab one of these for the back pocket and see how they carry.

I'm much the same about how I carry ,Tony. Thanks for the feedback.

Interesting! A Rough Ryder that actually comes with a belt pouch! And one that can be worn both V & H! Under $20! Why are these NOT flying off the shelves? That's one of the reasons why my RR Collecting has been slow. Needing to acquire the correct sized Belt pouch because, so far, none of the RR lockbacks I've gotten, so far, have ever come with one. I'm not a steel snob, but I do have to admit that I'm a bit of a lockback and Belt Pouch snob. After you lose your 4th over $30 blade out there somewhere because it fell out of your pocket, or you discover shamefully that that loud thunking sound you keep hearing is the dryer because you forgot it, you really begin to appreciate the power of positive retention on a belt. I know, it's me the Grammar Nazi again! Yeah a Sheath (technically) is what you slide a Fixed blade into, and a pouch is for folders. Etymology is such a dangerous thing. Google the Dunning Kruger Effect... Darn it! Now I just have to get one of those Smooth White Bones! That looks SO sweet!

Yea the pouches are really handy. Quite a number of 3rd party ones on Chicago Knife Works if you care to take a look. Thanks, Kandra.

I have always liked the looks of these....I am on my third buck 110 because I lost the first two...I like the looks of the RR classic carbon small lock back in T10 kind of reminds me of the buck 55.

That's some nice dedication to Buck. I remember Schrade Walden used to offer a replacement if you lost the knife within the first year so long as you were registered. Those were the days.

I just got both of these. They're very cool, and with the sheath, there isn't much to bitch about. I like the horizontal belt loop option ; I'll carry it like that. The blades are not centered, at all, but I don't care...They work fine. I have bucks that are the same.

Good value. Not going to be as durable as a Buck, but will meet most needs for sure. Thanks Richard.

Have the smaller version of the Amber jigged bone one. It looks fragile so I don't use it, I know it's not but sometimes the irrational just wins out. These lockbacks are still nice looking large or small and mine has very good QC. Don't regret buying it.

i have a Buck 110 lightweight with checkered handle. had to grind off one side because the checkering hurt my thumb. i also ground a bit of the handle away for my thumb to get a better grip on the blade when thumbing it open. it has a crappy tumbled finish. i much prefer the old Schrade+ 125ot, the one i had was lightning quick to open/close being thinner than a Buck .

Very nice. I prefer a lock back rather than a liner lock for Hunter’s. I do need a Buck 110 for my collection but the Rough Rider Hunter’s are decent knives and although I already have a few of them I need more 🤪. Great show and tell brother 🎅🏻👍.

My amber jig came, "too tight." It'll smooth out over time, but my 110 came smooth. Still a good knife though. What gets me more is an even edge grind. When it come symmetrical, it is much easier to work with on the wet stones. Sad to say my Old Timer D2 Bruin came with an uneven edge on one side. Ouch, esp with D2, lot more time on the stones than the RR 440.
@ThriftyKaniffy2 жыл бұрын
Good luck with the Bruin Seb. I may still review it.

These have been around for a while. The began in the old yellow boxes and then the blue denim box. I've got it in the "Once in a Blue Moon Series" It looks like they have refined them a bit over time. I like the weight and the way it feels in the hand better than the 110. But yeah, the Buck feels more solid and feels better put together. But to be honest, I'm more likely to drop the Rough Ryder in my pocket. It just feels better when I'm using and carrying it.
@ThriftyKaniffy2 жыл бұрын
The Blue Moon is one I'd buy if I ever found one. The weight of the 110 never used to be an issue until the clamoring for space aged materials on everything. I mean people use the dang thing for a hammer after all. Thanks Tobias

If you don't like difficult back locks, you probably don't like the Cold Steel Tri-Ad lock.
@ThriftyKaniffy2 жыл бұрын
Never tried the old Steel before. Difficult ends at making a dent in the finger for 15 minutes. No tolerance for that.

440a has more carbon than bucks 420hc! People think the other way around because, of that hc behind the 420hc. Lol! But, 420 hc has more than just regular 420 of course. But, 440 series is better all the way around.
@ThriftyKaniffy2 жыл бұрын
It's the quality of the tempering of Buck knives that makes them stand apart. That's no ordinary 420 blade. Thanks Randy.
@wehrewulf Жыл бұрын
@@ThriftyKaniffy Not just rhe tempering, but the overall heat treat. Tempering is the relief of initial heat treating.
@wehrewulf Жыл бұрын
You are wrong. Improperly heat treated 440 series steels are crap. Buck's 420HC has a very methodical heat treat process that is far above most of the junk knife companies that use 440 series steel.
