No idea why I never caught this video before. I really love the pattern. Thanks for sharing this pattern. It has been here a year and I just found it. Well none of us are perfect but yours and Matt''s tying is as close as it gets. All the best and I am going to look to see if I missed any others around this time. Sean

Nice! Sort of a beefed up Griffiths Gnat. Should float well. Would be a good one to use as indicator fly in a tandem.

If you’re in the market for an other Scandinavian fly to tie, you should take a look at "Superpuppan" by Lennart Bergqvist. It imitates a swimming caddis pupa, and it’s an absolute killer! No fly fisher in Scandinavia would be caught dead without this fly in their box. This fly has caught a huge amount of trout over the years, and I’m 100% sure it would be just av effective on your side of the pond. It’s a super easy tie in sizes 8-18.

"Start by mashing the barb" love that line :) . . . . Wish that was common practice :) I crimp all mine with the vice before tying . . . . . . I think it would really help if in the description or the commentary it was said what species the fly is designed to catch . . . . Just a thought.

Hi Malte, He sais in the video that the fly should be used as an imitation of a Caddis. In Norway where I live we catch following species on this fly: Trout, Greyling and Arctic Char. I think you even might be able to get some Salmon on it if you tie it in bigger sizes. We also use this fly to imitate hatching caddis and caddis that swims in to the shore. Pretty sure the Rainbow would hit this aswell. I hope you got the answer you where looking for :)

Great suggestion! It's something we've been meaning to do for awhile but keeps getting pushed to the back burner. Hopefully soon.

I think its easier to start the hackle from the back and towards the head.

I tie it the same way as you suggest. I also use elk hair which is more visible and leave a "wing" over the top which more or less makes it a stimulator caddis fly. Floats like a cork and trout like it plenty.

I litterly just questioned the same thing then thought about it. It’s for rough water, going reverse then a normal Wollybugger then coming forward with the string ties everything back down instead of only relying on the hackel wrap. It can be banged around pretty rough

Looks like a tricked out woolly bugger. Would chenille work instead on dubbing? Just wondering.
