I'm in my 70s and I remember this lifestyle. When I was around 15 or 16 and life was so wonderful. It was freedom and I didn't do drugs. I was just a barefooted hippie lived off the land with my parents. Ate organic made homemade bread had a wood stove. Had apple orchard, you name it and making my own clothes at 15 was just something else. Girls would do and I remember walking barefooted all over the dirt road and at the end of the summer. My callouses on my feet were so thick. It was maybe an inch thick. Well, at least it felt like at night would peel it off. And I used to go skinny dipping in the lake and the ocean at night and lay out in the tall grass and look at the stars and watch the big dipper. And all those wonderful things with my friends. We were foot loose and fancy free. No problems nothing to think about but I was so glad my dad wouldn't allow me to go to Woodstock. I think he's saved my life that way.

Listening to this with my 8 year old son, telling him about the meaning of “being home with a person”. This song brings me back to his older sister; we sang it at bedtime when she was his age. She was so full of joy, love, and hope for the future back then… Time went on and i’d kinda forgotten about it; we split up a couple years ago after we’d drifted in different directions. She recently destroyed herself with drug addiction and I’ve gotten custody of our two children. As soon as I heard this song again the other day I balled my eyes out in this strange happy memory, tears of joy and sadness haze.
