Good match. Niyika be whishing he was more aggressive when he looks back. Russian was throwing like it was his final, Nykiya should have done the same. With some time spent in the States with top coaches it would be good to see how Nykiya would develop. Especially the likes of a Teddy Atlas, that would just take him next Level

I agree. Hardly any volume with his counters and most of them missed. The Russian was the proper aggresor with a tonne of volume. If David put more out in the last and landed abit more I think he cudov pinched it. Anyhow, props to him for gettin a medal, I was going for him and wanted him to win gold.

@Tfonz Tfonz there’s no way you can think David won that first round. He got out hustled. I’m a kiwi and even I can see how lost that round. The other two were close. How can you not agree with that? Do you think David won those by a big margin? If so you guys are just being biased because he’s the New Zealander.

I'm a new zealander too and a big boxing fan. David lost the fight. He's got a big heart, great punches and a great chin but he needs miles better defense. Look at his head, it barely moves for a lot of the fight. He gets better in the later rounds, but loses on points. The russian kept up an active defense the entire fight AND put out a higher volume of punches that actually connected. No robbery. Massive props to David though, he did really well and deserved his medal.

I had the same, Russian 1st David 2nd (just - cudv gone eitherway) 3rd Russian. If David put out more work in the last rd and landed abit more he cudov pinched it. My 02c.
