For all those unaware, Dark souls pc servers won't be back up until some time after Elden Ring releases. They found a really bad vulnerability in the online that would let other players launch code on your system (RCE).They will be fixing it, but making sure it's not in Elden Ring at launch is their (very understandable) priority.

Getting some serious Battle of the Dans flashbacks here! I kept expecting "Dan Wins!" to pop up on screen with confetti. Seriously laughed so hard watching this. I vote this be the filler game going forward.

Man, I love how burst + homing + explosion turns your gun into artillary, this game is so creative in its builds

I recall seeing mods for this that increase the required wins letting builds get even more crazy and mods that add more cards.

you can block when you hit the edge of the screen to avoid damage, and it launches you up way higher. so falling to the bottom of the screen doesn't have to be a death sentence. also demonic pact hp cost doesn't kill you. it will reduce you to 1 HP, so anything can kill you. But you can keep shooting.

That was such a fun episode! Really interesting design concept for this game. And any game that makes Dan Floyd say "Oh nyo! Oh nyo!" is a good game, imo. This _has_ to make it in the line-up if and when there's another Battle of the Dans.

I normally feel like these chaotic VS games get old pretty quicly once you've seen all the stages and items, but giving random combinations opens a whole other world, if things like this pick up I would love to see how even Smash Bros. like games can become. I was in tears during that last match, it was amazing.

Just a heads up: - Demonic Pact doesn't kill you if you shoot too much, it just drains your HP to a minimum of abt 1%. - When you're abt to touch the edge of the screen, you can use your block at the last second to launch yourself away from taking damage from it. - Cold Bullet's bullet slow effect means that it applies a slowing effect to your target. - Getting multiples of the same card means that you can stack abilities, making them better at doing what they do (i.e. 2 Timed Explosions makes 2 delayed explosions on impact) Love watching your vids btw! Keep it up!

Like, five minutes earlier. 5:00: A very simple balancing mechanism, to prevent either player from just lucking into a great combination of skills and dominating the rest of the game. 23:30: Remember how the Dans were trying to charge at each other to use their close-range abilities last round? 33:40: When your bullets are _that_ impressive, you can afford to take the cool option. 48:30: It feels like when the designers had to decide how skills would interact, they chose the option that would maximize chaos every single time. 0:35: "Twitch matchmaking"? Huh. Wonder how that works. Always kinda neat to see games design features specifically for streamers/LPers. 3:10: *Deeply* disappointed that Dan Floyd's character is not way larger due to the Huge skill. I'm not sure he's larger at all... 8:15: I see Dan is going for a collateral damage build. With his HP boost, it's possible that he'd have an edge on surviving mutually assured damage, if it wasn't for the fact that the other Dan can just hurt him by getting close. 12:55: I am _so_ disappointed Dan didn't go for bouncy exploding bullets. 16:55: Important question, how many HP do you start with? Could be a good ability if it's 1,000; much worse if it's 50. 22:30: The only thing better than victory, is unexpected victory. 29:05: Yikes. 41:50: I now count three blocks per block. That's a lot of bullet reflection. 51:40 Dan is having more fun losing this than I have fun winning most shmups.

If I'm not mistaken, the demonic pact doesn't take away the owner's final 1HP. From there on, you can shoot freely without being scared of dying.

Having the loser get to choose new abilities is such a fun way to mitigate the sting of loss!

A thing I love about this is that the cards only give exact info when absolutely needed. How much is "A bunch more HP"? Does not matter.

I hope that if you guys do play this again, you check out some of the crazy card mods that are out there (Also things like playing for ten rounds/doing two cards at a time.) There are some really wacky ones that just make it that much more hilarious.

I know you guys mostly take suggestions/votes through you're patreon but might I suggest a series? I would LOVE watching you all play through Phoenix Wright, especially if you could play with Carrie and Dan for the extra voice power.

This reminds me of a mix of Liero and the Destruct mode in Tyrian.
